In mame32 you can go into the default game options, and change the default input layout by selecting preset ctrlr configs, like xarcade etc. I have a few controls that I use, and was curious if there is a way to change this within gameex?

Bump I would really like to know if this is possible, as I have several configs for different types of games.

What input interface you using?

You mean controller. I am using a controller Timoe at byoac built for me. It uses the keywiz eco ps2 version. Here is a picture of the cabinet, what I am wanting is to be able to use the 4 way and buttons next to it for older games without having to manual switch.

How many games are you going to use that controller for? It's not that big of a deal setting it up manually for each game in MAME if it's only about 20 games or so. It's a one time thing.

Just run the game you want to use a 4-way with and hit [TAB]

Go to "INPUT (THIS GAME)" and setup the controls you want to use.

There you go, now these settings are saved for this game. I guess you could open up the .cfg for that game located in your cfg directory and there should be controller settings there that you could copy if you want to copy/paste for all your 4-way games.

Good luck

I just figured out a way around this, and I can't believe I didn't realize it before. In mame you can set multiple buttons to do the same thing in the Input General section. So really there is no need for a ctrlr file, as I can set the buttons by the 4way to be button1 and button 2, as well as the buttons by the 8way. I was being dumb lol
