Help an Old Man

Firstly i am using Mame106 and GameEx 6.76.

Everything was working fine untill i installed a keywiz into my cab.GameEx wouldnt work unless i installed net framework 2.0,did that-GameEx works again except that when i want to play a game it wont install a credit and if i go between the keyboard and the keywiz and manually install a credit,i get the game up and running except for example-Streetfighter-player 1 joystick wont have any movement but all the 6 buttons work-player2 joystick works fine but button 5&6 wont work.

I have triple checked all my wiring,checked for a different setting in GameEx or mame and i am stuffed if i can work it out.

Someone please help me out.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think player 2 button 5 or 6 are assigned in mame by default. On my keywiz, in Mame I set the 5 and 6 buttons as I and K respectively. It depends on what other emulators you have and what keypresses they need and how you wired it. If all other buttons are working except the joy for P1 I would think that maybe you need to re-assign these in Mame, or their common ground is loose if they are on their own ground circuit. Hope this helps.

Edit: the coin 1 should be wired to the L on the keywiz which is actually keypress 5

coin 2 -m actually keypress 6

start 1 -I actually keypress 1

Start 2 -j actually keypress 2

Yep,button 5&6 on player 2 side are assigned to those locations in mame by default.All my ground wires are intact.Player 1 joystick will operate when scrolling through the game lists it is only when you start a game that it wont work along with player 2 5&6 buttons.Also you cannot register a credit.

Do you think that if i totally delete mame &gameex files and reload them that this might fix my problem.Any more ideas?

You tried going into mame itself and hitting tab key and re-assigning the keys? I would try this first before blowing everything out and re-installing. It sounds like your P1 joystick works, just not in mame. Try using this utility called keyhook.exe off of BYOAC just to see what keypresses are being entered. http://arcadecontrols.com/files/Utilities/KEYHOOK.ZIP This will help you troubleshoot the situation.

Thanks for the help.I did what you recommended with no luck.All key presses are reading correctly,but a strange thing happened when i went back into gameex-it had rotated the screen 90degrees by itself.I think it is all f___ ed.When it all happened at the start and the logfile came up with install net framework2.0,this may fix your problem or you will have to reinstall your operating system.Funny the darn thing isnt even connected to the net and all i did was install a keywiz and i have ended up in all this s__t.

I am going to reinstall mame and gameex from scratch tomorrow and hope in hell that it all works for me(i,ve had enough for today")

I,ll let you know how i get on,

Just in case you were wondering the keywiz has worked great for me, so don't give up on it. Maybe its like you said and your software is all F**ked up. Good Luck
