[RESOLVED] Model 2 forces 800x600/doesn't find some games

Im an internet guy to many. People do have issues with me! No idea why either! Im not offended or taking it personal you just seem a little pushy so just just asking! No worries about it.

So the issue is it breaks the full screen mode? A liitle script should fix that but again I cant remember the emulator needing that.

Im happy to write you a little script to set the ini variables before launch if you like, if that is the problem?

What it does is:

The emulator takes escape key not for exiting, but changing from fullscreen to windowed.

What I would need:

Pressing escape results in a alt f4 command to actually close the emulator.

Any help appreciated.

Yeah, I understand. I expect its why you had the issue with the 800x600 because I set those values in the ini because of that probably that. So it forces full screen.

So lets look at fixing the startup rather than the exit.

Okay, so what exactly do you need set in the ini? Are you able to tell me?

Does setting it to read only work?

That is only the problem with the model 2 function in the Mame list. I'm letting that alone for now

I setup model 2 as it's very own emulator now. I just need escape to be alt f4 and it's running fine.

No. I can't follow you.

The resolution is not the problem. Only exiting the emulator is

The ini is already set to read only because that's how I made it work in the Mame list. Doesn't change my problem with exiting the emulator.

I guess I'll just go with an ahk script to make v escape into alt f4.

I thought the full screen was set in the ini, so read only should fix it being set, no?

So windowed mode cannot be set because it is read only? So next time you launch it should not be windowed?

Im confused what your issue is? Is it a cosmetic thing? If so turn on hide desktop. Or is it still being set to windowed even with read only?

So a script can either write ini settings before launch or map escape to alt-f4?

Okay again:

Pressing escape doesn't exit the emulator. At all. Never. It's just not coded like that. It's coded so that escape will switch fullscreen to windowed.

Alt+F4 is the solution to exit the emulator. I need the key "escape" to be "Alt + F4" so I can get back into the frontend.

Solution to that should be advanced config with %{F4} as escape command. Doesn't work. Neither does map.

Resolution, looks.... None of that bother me right now. I'm just not able to get out of the emulator.

My only solution right now will be an ahk script so I'm finally done with this.

You might consider testing yourself as the model 2 emulator is still mandatory if you want to play model 2 games. Mame is and will not be able to play them properly for what is probably a long time.

Ill test. Holding down escape should work though without advanced config. GameEx should pick up the key. It may take a couple. I rarely use advanced config myself. There are a couple of emulators that switch windowed mode with escape. Ive never had an issue but sometimes you have to hold the key down.

No, only if you tell it too, it kills the process by default. There should be no problem here. Maybe I introduced bug. I will definitely test. How about a log file?

Also to be clear, all the games show up if you disable verifyroms? I can fix that.

As I'm using it as it's own emulator with it's own database it doesn't matter anymore.

I realise that, but it may be a bug with the inbuilt support which I am trying to fix.

I think I have actually found the issue with that and a couple of things.

Okay, well I've been able to get 50 games now instead of previously 34.

I do notice the issue exiting but if I hold down escape it does exit after a while.

Maybe its a rights issue? Are you running the emulator as admin or in compatibility mode but are not running GameEx elevavated?

I'm using a ahk script now. Not the way I would have liked it but it's fine.

Is there a way to add the model 2 games to the all game list?

Posted

If its set as admin that might be your issue. I have no issue exiting and I don't recall it ever being reported.

All emulators should automatically be added to the all games list.

There simply was no reason to upgrade as everything was working fine. Also it's a cabinet so it's not permanent connected to the internet
