Multiple Display/Mouse Problems/Touchscreen

Hey everyone,

I am new to this but I tried to looked through the forums and didnt see my questions. Anyhow here they are:

1. I have a computer hooked up to a CRT and a TV. Is there any way to have the video output on the TV but the controls still on the CRT? I didn't see a setting for this and maybe it isnt possible. My brother and I are talking about trying to do some configurations with VLC and then access VLC through Game EX. I just thought I would check first and see if anyone has had any success or knows how to do it.

2. I am having problems with my mouse. I installed the program and opened it. The scroll wheel on the mouse works and I can see the arrow(at least until I use the scroll wheel then it dissappears) but I can't click on anything. I checked the setting that says "disable mouse" and it says to use the mouse. Any ideas as to why this would be a problem? My brother is running Game Ex on his machine and it seems to work fine.

3. The CRT monitor has a touch screen built into it and I was wondering if anyone had done a them that would work with a touch screen. In theory if you can access things with the mouse you should be able to with a touch screen. Since I am having problems with my mouse I haven't been able to try this out too much but I do know it would at least be nice to have bigger buttons and text. Is anyone else using a touchscreen?

Thanks everyone!

1. I think and video played is defaulting to full screen - I havent see any config settings to redirect WHAT shows WHERE

I and not fully understanding 2 & 3

Install the scroll mouse wheel program??

Disable mouse and to use the mouse????

Perhaps the MOUSE and TOUCHSCREEN drivers are conflicting

-why would a touch screen need a mouse pointer

-how would you implement a scroll wheel on touchscreen

But thats pretty cool - touchscreen...awesome!!!

Hmm not sure how the multi-monitor support works with the CP Viewer. I'm pretty sure it would be easy for Tom to add an option to output the CP to the second screen.

At the moment the only thing I am sure of is that you can output GameExtender onto the second screen. The options you may need are:

Display->Run on Secondary Monitor (not sure if you need this one)

GameExtender->Enable GameExtender->Yes

GameExtender Viewer->Display on Secondary->Yes

That at least will send the game info to the second screen. But as for making the CP go to the second screen perhaps we need a feature request to add an option to the GameExtender Viewer, something like "Show CP" or something

When you say you "installed the program and opened it" do you mean the mouse driver software or GameEx. You probably don't need to install the driver for your mouse. I wouldn't bother installing the driver software for a mouse. Are you using your mouse with USB or PS2? I would use probably use USB, the only advantage of using PS2 is that the mouse works in Safe Mode. Why are you trying to set the "disable mouse" option when you trying to get the mouse working? I have no idea why your mouse arrow disappears when you use the scroll wheel. Just tried my mouse with the scroll wheel and works fine for me.

I remember someone saying that MCE was very difficult to operate with his touchscreen on the front page. I don't know how well it would work in GameEx but as far as I understand them, they work just like a mouse (meaning they use the mouse APIs to simlate mouse movement and clicks) so I can't see any problem with it. Try my suggestions to get your mouse working (uninstall any mouse driver if you have installed one) and make sure your using USB.

Hey guys, thanks for the input. I will see what I can do with the Game Extender to use the second screen. I will also put in a feature request to see if we can get the second display capability as another option.

As for the mouse it is very odd. I have uninstalled Game Ex and reinstalled it. I don't change anything and when I open it I can't click on anything with the mouse. I will play with it some more and see what I can come up with. I just wanted to see if anyone else had had mouse problems. The touchscreen does act like a mouse but I hooked up a mouse too just to see if it would work better than the touchscreen while testing Game Ex. Even if I unhooked the touchscreen the mouse still didnt work properly. I am using USB and my brothers installed worked fine. I am just going to have to troubleshoot mine.

The last question I asked about the touchscreen I guess is more of a question as to whether anyone has made a theme with bigger text and buttons. Most of the themes I looked through are just different colors or pictures and not really any more "touchscreen friendly".

I'm still working on the case and different accesories to my jukebox so my testing is going somewhat slow. I should get around to it more this weekend and will try to post pics of things when I have everything working.

Thanks again

One thing you can do is change the font size to the largest. It should make using the touchscreen easier. Be careful of themes which override this setting in THEME\[Name]\Theme.ini.

Display Settings (2)->Font Size->Biggest
