This "feature" is not specific to this version. I cannot honestly tell you what rev I started using but I know that if you enabled lets say Mame or Daphne and the application path was wrong it'd exit just like what you're seeing. You're going to have to take your time when you put the application paths in or you'll be seeing alot of this happening. Maybe Tom can change this behaviour and maybe create a "Log file dump" but yet allow GameEx to load up anyway regardless of user input errors?? Heck ....forget the error dump file and incorporate the windows feature of a pop up error dialog box! Click ok and GameEx doesn't exit. I dunno just my thoughts.

I think this is the intended behaviour of GameEx to do that. It's debatable as to whether or not it should function this way, but there are positives for it being this way to. It does force the user to have a correct working directory for every enabled emu.

I think a better way to handle this would be to allow GameEx to launch but upon selecting the emulator an error message pops up indicating the working path is incorrect. In a way using the log file method makes debugging easier though, since making a screenshot of an error message is more difficult than pasting the log text file.

It always used to error on startup if an emulator was setup incorrectly to the extent that it just would not work.

What I did do is try not doing this and just disabling the emulator in the versions last week.

I then realised that non experts and newbies would have absolutely no idea why there emulators where not showing up, so decided to put it back how it was. Headkaze is absolutely correct that there could be a better way, and I like his suggestion. but for now until I get round to it I think this is best.
