OT: Forum subscriptions

Hi,

I'm pretty sure I have turned off all forum subscriptions, yet I still keep getting emails every time a new post is started/replied to.

Can anyone help me turn them off please

not possible AFAIK

2 things you can do:

1) set up mail filter to delete the mails

2) ask Tom to fix/change the forum. since he's running latest version of IPboard, it probably need some php hack or something.

That sucks. Who the hell wants to sign up on a forum and receive email for every new topic. No offense to tom here, but I have never come across a forum that does this and it is really annoying!

agreed, it is ridiculous.

every time it comes up, Tom says turn off subscriptions or something. however, there clearly is a bug, or we're very stupid.

im assuming youve turned off everything you can see.

theres some option weve missed that someone could post screenshots of?

Yes I've been through and turned off every thing I could see in the control panel.

I've also noticed that when you reply to any message, the default option it to set email notifications on. I find that a little strange as on most boards it is off by default.

Please help us guys, I don't want to have to Spam filter this board as there are some threads I would like notifications from, just not all off them!

Plus it will reduce Tom's bandwidth/server load

Yes it does suck, but you can turn it off in your profile. Unfortunately you will still recieve e-mails from the replied topics that your already subscribed to. You can turn it off for each individual thread your receiving mail from.

Care to post screenshots of where I turn it off? As mentioned before, i'm pretty sure i've already switched everthing off and the emails i'm getting are new topics that I have never replied to

I'm pretty sure you would have been automatically signed up to recieve notifications to all threads that have been started since you created your account wether you posted in them or not.

Hi, I apologise, and I do intend to look at this. Although it was my intention to have automatic emails as I liked it so much on the previous google group. I also hoped it would make things more active and more of community. Ill post a support request to Invision shortly, and find ot what changed in the upgrades. There should be an easy way for folks to turn it off and it should be in a sticky I'm thinking.

I think the daily digest is a great idea, just notification for every thread gets a little crazy on an active day.

But I can live with this.
