lingpanda by all means share how you did things...yes I'm working on a different method of sorts...and its mostly there...I just need to write a script to rename Snaps and Movies and such...manually altering that many file names blows.

Besides not everyone will want to do things my way.

NOLO - You try using Oscar's Renamer? It's like a text editor interface, and you can rename files in large numbers in no time. I've been using it on my GoodMerge Snaps project - it's been about as easy and quick as it gets.

I'll take a look at it and see if thats good route to go...normally I use FlashRenamer...but thats not freeware...which is my primary concern since I don't want people to have to buy things just to use my methods...tho I kind of throw that out the window with that UltraEdit Macro...tho I will be looking into seeing if I can create a Macro using PSPad or the like.

Any ways thanks for the heads up, and I'll get back to you on this as time allows.

1st thing dl winkawaks. http://cps2shock.retrogames.com/ Winkawaks has it's own set of roms. Mame roms are out the window. Set this up like most any other emulator. Set paths to to roms, snap shots etc.. Here are a few sanpshots of my gameex config.

Notice the also launch field? This is the file you will need to dl from nologic's post. This will kill the winkawaks service when exiting back to gameex. The reason being is that Winkawaks requires one to pause emulation before exiting the emulator. This cause's gameex and your computer to freeze. Since I run my gameex from a cabinet w/out a keyboard I need this way. Just unzip the file to your winkawaks root directory. Browse for the script file in the "also launch" field. Thx Nologic. Much props! Another problem I had was the correct "command line" to use. Notice the quotes around winkawaks. Make sure they are there.

Make sure to turn off "play in screensaver". This will cause gameex to crash sometimes. Note you can not create snapshots with gameex and this emulator. Unless tom can fix this. Reason being is Tom's create snapshots doesn't follow your emu config. It will hang after the 1st snapshot. Will not close winkawaks with the script file. Winkawaks does have its own screenshot pack that you can google. They are in *.bmp format. I just replaced all the files I found in the snapshot directory to *.png files. I just searched for bmp in the directory and told windows to replace with *.png. Another good thing about winkawaks is that it uses mame names for it's roms. Notice my video path for winkawaks also points to my mame video path. I can share videos with both emulators. No need to create.

There are some issues with I-PAC and winkawaks. If you are using an I-PAC. Make sure in winkawaks controller config you click "use hot-rod configuration" then assign keys. This will prevent winkawaks from screwing up. Unless you have remaped your I-PAC keys. I Think thats it. If I missed something just ask.

Cna I use clrMAMEpro to rename my MAME ROMs so they'll run in WINAWAKS or do I have to go find these specifically for this emulator?

the second edition works fine for me ,but i've a little problem i launch winkawaks alone to setup controlers and i save the conf by default and it works fine with all the game , but when i launch winkawaks thru gameex i lose my controllers conf ???? does any no why ?

I don't. Try saving key config to ini and then to key defaults.

I'm not exactly sure what you want. I believe winkawaks supports -fullscreen -file

In fact it was just to know if there is command to force kawaks using game pad, i have setup my game pad on wikawaks it works fine , but when i lauch winkawaks via gameex only keyboard works.

I'm not sure if this will solve your problem. BUT.. In the gameex config. Under input settings. Is use joystick enabled?

I used a clrMAMEpro dat file to build the ROMs that are originally in MAME 0.109 to the format Winkawaks uses. I didn't need to download the torrent - I just used my current sets.
