Ninja Rygar
I have dubbed my theme "Horizon" and it is very usable now! Backgrounds, original artwork, new logos and some nice widescreen eyecandy! What more could you want? So get the update! And that Saturn background you wanted is there too! Tempest
You guys are making me wish I had a wide screen monitor. The themes are looking good though!
bkenobi
Yup, all of my favorite themes are widescreen. I haven't tried since I assume it won't work, but can I use a widescreen theme without it looking all squeezed on a 4:3 monitor? Maybe I should just d/l a couple and see what happens. I guess the other option is to reformat the theme to my needs, but I've never been good with themes.
Ninja Rygar
Hmm... it might not be so hard for me to make a Not-widescreen version of this theme... just gotta change a few numbers around... what resolution would you guys prefer? bkenobi
How hard is it to change in general? My #1 most favorite theme of date is Flash's "BlueBalls", but it's wide screen. He made some images in 4:3 as well, but I don't recall him saying it was fully 4:3. I would do the grunt work myself if I at least knew what I was getting into. Ninja Rygar
Well you just have to resize all the images, and change the theme in the theme editor to match it. I don't THINK it would be too hard... but I haven't tried yet. I'll let you know once I give it a shot.Hey, listen, does anybody know where I can get nice quality images of game consoles... cropped and cut out preferably? For the theme? I would even need obscure consoles and portables... anybody know where I can find that?
bkenobi
Try Flash's site. That's what he created it for AFAIK.

bkenobi
Thanks Tempest! I thought Flash had a lot more mainstream systems than that. It looks like he's focusing more on the oddball stuff that no one else has good pictures for. For instance, he has the Game Gear with TV adapter, but no picture without the adapter. Ehhh, most of the common systems can be found elsewhere, so it's no big deal really.
Tempest
HeadKaze has quite a bit of stuff in the CPWizard download. It would be worth downloading, and taking a look at. I think he's pretty fanatical about his quality as well. I thought they were going to do something with the new Setup Wizard as well. I know they were looking for pics of every system. I never downloaded anything after the project came out, so I don't know for sure what the deal is. It seems like maybe they were going to make a default folder for images for themes, so if you switched themes, the images would follow. I hope that provides enough information for somebody to get something useful out of this post. LOL
ehauk
How do you designate if the game list is a text list or a thumbnail list in the theme editor? I would also like to know if there is a way to change the aspect of the thumbnails from a square to 4X3.

bkenobi
The theme was ENORMOUS! I bet Tom has a copy, so maybe he can host it.
azphat12
The theme was ENORMOUS! I bet Tom has a copy, so maybe he can host it.I hope so. I am not to fond of the actual tunnel background, lol. But all the other features that I could see looked really nice. Be quite a waste if that theme is gone now. Out of curiosity how big was the total theme? bkenobi
I didn't download it, but I heard it was several hundred MB (less than 1 GB though, IIRC). The author was really excited about his work (which is awesome!), but I'm not sure he got as much recognition as he may have expected. Anyway, he only stuck around the forums for a couple months or so. With all the effort he put into the theme, I hope he's still into the hobby! I understand the menu creator and got that started. I guess those where maybe .avi files? I never worked with them but would be willing to give it a go if I had somewhere to start, lol. bkenobi
I'm not the right one to answer theme questions. HK built the Theme Editor, but there are a bunch of people who have contributed themes here (including Tom of course).

azphat12
Here are some of my Emu Backgrounds and loading screens. Those look good! I like the windows version one.I did manage to find much of the Tunnelvision theme. Rapidshare and the website where dead links, but the megaupload site had a few working ones.I managed to get most of it I believe....except the background.Does anyone have the Tunnel background by chance? bkenobi
Tom, do you think it would be a good idea to check with the author of Tunnel Vision to see if he minds if you host it? Seems like a good example of what can be done with GameEx and it would be a damn shame to lose it!
Tom Speirs
Tom, do you think it would be a good idea to check with the author of Tunnel Vision to see if he minds if you host it? Seems like a good example of what can be done with GameEx and it would be a damn shame to lose it!It was too big to host, that was the problem. It was a couple of gigs if I recall. Unfortunatly I no longer have a copy of the files. Unusual for me, but I slipped up there. Ill ensure I keep a copy if I can get it again. azphat12
The below link is where I downloaded many of the Tunnelvision items. It is from this forum. Maybe grab those while they last if you want to try and piece it back together. I have managed to get most of it working except 1 or 2 avi which are not in the downloads.... http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=7647&st=0&p=57020&hl=screensaver&fromsearch=1entry57020It really is a good way to attract people. The youtube video from it sold me on GameEx.I think that once I get more familiar with GameEx in general I might take a crack at making some animated menus. Give me something to do, lol
Nightlife
So I'm thinking about creating a new theme and I was looking for some feedback! Is this a good idea? Would you be interested in it if I put it together? The idea is called, "Retro Room." Each system's background would be the living room for the era in which the system was released, complete with unique TV set, wallpaper, posters, etc. Thought it would be fun to see each game and system in it's "natural" environment!Attached is a mockup I put together really quickly (really, REALLY quickly) so don't mind the crummy placeholder elements. Let me know what you think of the concept!
