New to MAME/GAMEEX

Hi im new to both of these and i'm having a few problems.

One was not all the ROMS were showing, but i read the common FAQ and this maybe a filter option i hope.

My next question is im running a Athlon 64 and a mame64 version, is the correct to be using within MCE 2005? It seems to load the ROMS ok that i have tried.

Next is, i got myself a Competition Pro USB Joystick, and it will let me control the Gameex menus but when i enter a game the joystick does nothing, nadda cant get any buttons to work....any ideas?

Also, the menu screen the font doesnt look as smooth as this one

the font is kind of smaller and jaggerdy.

also, reading through the FAQ my keyboard does nothing in game either - i can start a game but no keys move the player.

What version of mame are you using with GameEx? Most likely you have to set your keys up. Press the "Tab" button when the game starts to set keys.

Im running Mame_106u9_Athlon64 but i've download Mame32FX to try out.

On my work PC the Mame32FX let me move around with keyboard, so will install on my machine tonight and test.

A few of the ROMS i have here dont work though - is this common?

I've used both the comman line ver. of mame and mame32 with gameEx. I prefer mame32 with gameEx. you are probably using an old rom set with a new ver of mame. You need to learn how touse clrmamepro. http://www.clrmame.com/ It allows you to fix your roms and many other things. Then again mame isn't 100% complete. Not all roms work 100%. Many do tho.
