Hello, I have all my MP3's in folders by artist and then by album. The problem I am having is that they are not properly tagged. Is there some type of batch process that might let me tag the MP3 with album info by looking at the folder name? Thanks for any help you can provide or maybe a link to a more appropriate forum about MP3 tags.

Hi, here's how i sorted mine: I added all the music to wmp first, got wmp to retrieve some more track info, then i used an Art Fixer to find albums with missing art, or wrong names.

Here's how to go about it:

1.Right-click the Windows Media Player title bar, point to Tools, click Options, and then click Library.

2.If the Retrieve additional information from the Internet check box is selected, make sure that Only add missing information is also selected. This option prevents the Player from inadvertently overwriting the media information you've added.

3. Now click 'tools' 'process media information' to add missing info to your mp3's.

4. Finally use the album fixer. You can get it here for free: http://www.avsoft.nl/artfixer/

(you can also place the cover art in the album's folder, & name it folder.jpg, this will make sure the art shows up in all programs, incidentaly the best image size is 200 by 200 pixels)

Here's some links to help you out:

Microsoft - how add media information: microsoft link

The Green Button: About the album art fixer: the green button

(there's loads more info at the green button which might help).

If you find youself looking for covers in amazon and other places, you might want to try these websites instead.

http://www.allmusic.com/

http://www.discogs.com/ (This is a good one for the more obscure stuff)

Iv'e attached some firefox search plugins for the sites above which really helped me find stuff quickly:

That just about covers it! Sorry for the long response :)
