I've been having problems with attract mode through several versions now.I'm using the latest v3.51 now, here are some of the problems I've been having lately.

starting with version 3.48,3.50 and 3.51 did it also. The 1st time I start gameex it will not load and I get a full screen sized log file as gameex exits. After the 1st attempt it seems to load normally so its not a huge problem. Here is the log text from the 1st v3.51 startup.

my attract videos(set to run in small window to the left, not as background image) will play fine but there is a huge delay before the audio starts and once in a while the video disappears to a black box and you have to exit and restart gameex to fix.

attract mode

if I leave the default set to 4,the screen goes completly black with no sound

if I set to 0 to disable attract mode, after a while gameex minimizes itself to the taskbar.

I like the idea of the attract mode but haven't had a lot of luck with it,I'd at least like to disable it and keep the gameex menu active.

I think this may be partly due to your setup. If the timer is set to 0 it is deffinitly not attract mode that is minimizing gameex. It will deffinitly be disabled. Its either some other bug with GameEx or another application window taking focus away from GameEx. What else do you have running?

Can you confirm whether you are using AVI or MNG videos also. If its AVI, it must be your setup, as theres really nothing that could be a problem with audio in the GameEx code. If their MNG it could be an issue with GameEx however.

On thing that might fix the videos, is setting GameEx not to create the snap/video on a thread. This is under Tweaks/Performance in the configuration app.

Let me know if turning that off improves things.

If anyone else is experiencing the same issues please report.

Thanks,

Tom

there are no other open apps running when it minimizes, its installed on my primary computer for now so its got a few things in the system tray, norton and a few other utilities, maybe a culprit I don't know.I didn't see the minimizing problem before v3.48.I changed that setting in the tweaks tab about the video-thread thing to no,I didn't know what that did so I left it alone at first,we'll see if that changes it's behavior. Also I didn't see the audio problem untill v3.48 either.I'm going to have to get the last few components for the computer thats going into my cab so I can run it on a system without any extra fluff on it and see if it's ok then. And videos I'm using are AVI's,and again they played ok on v3.47.
