I was wondering if anyone created a full color set of dmd images for FP, PBFX2, and  VP? Fren made the initial set that were p[posted on Vp universe.  I would also like to know if there is a util to batch create them from existing wheel images?

Just open your Images in an editor (e.g. GIMP). Resize them to 128x32 pixels. Use a black background. And finally save them as *.png files. That's it.

Kind regards,

Jannek

PS: I use this process for all of my tables to be shown in PinballX for my Pin2DMD.

Hey bent98,

here are my current DMD images (all PFX2 tables and my VP tables). Maybe these will help you.

As I said: I use them for my PIN2DMD.

Kind regards,

Jannek

thanks! I was wondering for tables that dont use a DMD  like EM's is there anyway to leave the dmd image up after the table is launched?

You have to adjust your config-XML for the specific table in the given system: change the tag <Hide DMD> to FALSE.

I guess this will also be adjustable via the Game Manager, but I´m not familiar with that. As far as I know there´s a checkbox with the same title - you have to uncheck that box.

Do you know if this is supposed to work with Real DMD images too? Even if I have Hide DMD unchecked, the image goes away once the game launches.

Hmm, I´m not 100% sure about this, but you may try following (I may check my settings when I´m back at home):

- when you´ve started a specific table, right-click on the backglass to open the settings-window

- check your setting at "Show DMD"

- choose "hidden"

- save and reload the table (means: Exit to PinballX and re-start the table)

It is possible that the table is trying to show an ingame-DMD (even if there´s no) and therefore covering the DMD-image.

Regarding your question: Yes, this works fine. I´m using the images like you would like to do according to your first request.

All those Images will be shown while browsing in PinballX. When I start a table which is not using a DMD (like the EMs) this image will also be shown when I´m in-game.

I also use the images on SEGA tables where the PIN2DMD does not show the DMD information properbly, because the SEGA-DMDs use more dots than the "normal" ones.

In this case I place the Visual Pinball DMD somewhere on the backglass and use the PIN2DMD for showing the image. (for example "Baywatch" and "Batman Forever")

What I do for tables like Back to the future where it has that old style numerical dmd that displays on the pindmd is go into the windows pinmame registry and find the rom name. Then I search in the specific rom name entry, look for showdmd and change it from 1 to 0.

Just to give you feedback after checking my settings. It is like previously mentioned by me.

1. Start a table where the image should be shown on PIN2DMD

2. Right-Click on the BG

3. Show DMD: hidden

4. Save settings

5. Leave table to PinballX

6. Restart table

That should do the trick...

@bent98: sounds like in the end you change the same setting (or something similar) in a more complicated way.

Kind regards,

Jannek

For some reason this doesn't work for me, even with Show DMD set to Hidden.  It seems like as soon as I launch the table from PinballX it blanks out the DMD immediately, even before the table and backglass are loaded.  I have a PinDMDv3, so maybe it doesn't work the same way as PIN2DMD?

I  made a bunch of wheels that were missing for VP and FP. There are some wheel images that are very narrow and tall making for a squished images when converting to 128x32. Here is a list of tables that could use help with creating a image that's more horizontal. Can someone help? Once I finalize I will release the set.

Double Up

Dominio

Gigi

Golden Wings

Sir Lancelot

Ryan's Pumpkin
