Hello everybody,

I am only one second from going crazy. I have a problem with the PinballX DMD on my backglass monitor. In some of my tables the DMD is in front of the B2S-DMD, so it coveres the B2S-layouted DMD with the VPinMame-DMD (see picture DMD_1.png). This is the case in FunHouse, for example. To heal this, I manually have to click on the VPinMame DMD. After that it disappears and the B2S DMD appears as it should (see picture DMD_2.png).

The flag "Hide DMD" in the Game Manager is simply ignored by the system. I can activate or deactivate it. No matter what I do, the DMD stays visible in PinballX. It must be a PinballX related problem, because as soon as I play the table directly in Visual Pinball, I only see the "pretty" B2S DMD.

The only way to get rid of the DMD is to go to the setup wizard and set "DMD Enabled = No". But when I do this, the "Auto position DMD" doesn't work any more, althoug activated. That means, the VPinMame DMDs won't be positioned on my Backglass any more. I can manually move them, but the position gets lost after a restart of the table.

Can somebody help me please?

Timo

P.S.: Everything runs as administrator in XP SP3 compatibility mode.

The correct way would be to set DMD to not enabled. Like you say though this also stops auto position DMD from working.

Therefore I would position all your DMDs then set DMD to not enabled.

Enable DMD = Within PinballX

Hide DMD = Within Visual Pinball.

Hi Tom,

thanks for your help. Doing so, I should now how to position my DMDs without the use of PinballX. But in fact, I have no clue.

Simply moving the DMDs to the correct position on sceen 2 does not help. After a restart of the table, they simply jump back to screen 1. I already tried with and without "show border". The position of the DMD inside the script is marked as a comment, so the position shouldn't come from there. How can I tell VPinmame the correct position of the DMDs for each table?

On the other hand it is quite unsatisfying that an option in the PinballX Game Manager ("Hide DMD") doesn't do anything, event though it could be the key to my problems. Is that normal?

Cheers

Once the DMDs are positioned the automatic way they should stay in that position.

So Enable the DMD, launch all your games, then turn it off. > DMD Enabled = False.

Hide DMD is a setting for Visal Pinball only. Its meant to be used when a "real" DMD is used.

Thanks again, Tom.

Tried that already, unfortunately they don't stay there after turning off DMD. They jump back on the table screen.

Maybe it's because my backglass monitor (2) is positioned left from the main monitor (1)? I've read somewhere that VPinMame can't handle negative x coordinates (i.e. left from monitor number one). The PinballX automatic positioning seems to override that, but as soon as VPinMame itself is responsible again for the DMD's position, it jumps back to x coordinate "0" ?

I would appreciate any other idea :-)

Maybe you could think about the implementation of a "hide DMD function", which could enable or disable the PinballX DMD for each table whithin the Game Manager - apart from the a. m. real DMD disabler.

Vpinmame.dll check

-------------

As a test using only visual pinball, not pinballx, start a table. drag the Dmd somewhere on the playfield monitor and restart table does the Dmd start in the exact position you moved it to? If not run vpinmame settings.exe and enable cabinet mode if the option is there. If that Dmd is not staying in the desired location and the cabinet option is not there download a different version of vpinmame that supports cabinet mode

Now move your backglass monitor to the right of the playfield

For Pinballx Set Dmd enabled to false

Thank you, gtxjoe!

The Vpinmame.dll check showed that the DMD positions are definitely being saved. So far so good! After switching the monitors' positions whithin window's display settings everything worked fine. I cannot really move the whole monitor (cables too short), but it's enough to move the monitors in the display settings.

The problem that the Vpinmame DMD covered the B2S-DMD has also been solved. I just hat to click on the backglass, hit the "S" key, and disabled the Vpinmame DMD. Voilá :-)

Thanks everybody for the brainstorming!

Cheers

Timo
