Hi,

I finished the HUGE download of the MAME videos (mame_videos_shrunk). Where do I need to place them to get them to work as pictured in Tom's movie and as he described on the GameEx website? As you scroll through the games each video would play accordingly.

Thanks,

Reuben

OK. put the videos anywhere you like. I have mine off my mame directory. Then use the Video Snap Path setting in the Configuration tool to tell gameex the directory their in. This is under basic settings. The first one.

To make the videos display as a background image (like my cab in the video), you need to set Background mode under display settings, to use game images as the background.

If the videos play in the background slowly then turn off the Alpha blending (also under display settings).

Let us know how you get on.

Check the extras page on Tom's site.

GameEx

It's under MAME videos, you'll need the bitTorrent client which is avaialbe here:

Bit Torrent

It's a HUGE download 1.2 GIGS. It took me over TWO days to get, but well worth it!

Reuben

Can you tell me where I can download mame_videos_shrunk?

Thanks!

Tom, it worked out well, thanks you!

I'm using your â??Fun Videoâ? Theme. Is there anyway to keep the blue background image and not have the video play in the background but just on the right side while scrolling? I see the option for black background, but nothing to keep the standard GameEx blue background image.

I like the â??MAME All Gamesâ? video, but when it plays in th background it's distracting.

Thanks,

Reuben

In the \Default - Video Fun\Media directory\ rename or delete bak.mpg

I tried that before even asking here, but then GameEx wouldn't run. The log mentioned an error regarding the images loading. I'll try again, thanks.

Make sure bak.bmp is in the dir. If not copy it from the default theme.

How come I didn't know about these videos? This looks really killer. Is there a way that if there is no video available for a game, to display a still instead?

GameEx makes that the default behavior!

Sorry, it got mixed in with my TPS reports.

Just wanted to quickly say, I am using the MNG videos. Its a 4GB download, but on a good pc these are like watching the 'actual' game. Basically superior quality. There is also a few more of them than the AVI's.

Hi Tom,

bak.bmp is in the directory AND I moved bak.mpg out of the directory, however I still get this error. There must be something else I have to change, no?

Thanks,

Reuben

Not too sure. Maybe its missing some other files. It sounds like its only the logos you want anyway. Try creating a copy of Default - Default as someting like Default - Reuben then just replace the logos directory in this theme with the one from video fun.

Thanks Tom,

Actually I want the videos too, I just don't want the "MAME All Games" video to play as the background image.

Tom, would it be possible for you to reseed the MNG file, or make it available via FTP? I can't find it anywhere. I understand if you don't have the bandwidth for this so that request is open to everyone else too.

Thanks.

I dont think I can personally host it long term, but will do temporarily if someone else wants to. If you want me too, Ill upload it temporarily so you can download and reseed it?

Also, the MNG's torrent originated from CrashTest's site. Have you done some looking around there?

Tom, Crashtest is offline, and doesn't look to be coming back anytime soon. He says he did 2000 videos, I only have like 300 avi's now. I would be willing to seed it on emule or maybe bittorent if there is demand (other than myself). If you can make it available on your FTP I can pull it down, or I can set up an ftp account for you to send it to me (might be faster).

Thanks.

Hi, I think there is deffinitly demand for BittTorrent, I think Ill reseed myelf, and leave it seeding on a spare PC for a while.

Could you point me in the right Direction of what is needed to reseed?

Thanks.

Try:

TorrentSpy - An MS Windows tool which allows you to query a tracker about a specific torrent, view metadata info, check a file's hashes, etc. A new feature is the "create" tab for making torrent files to upload.

MakeTorrent - A utility for creating torrent files, by the author of the burst! client. Version 1.x of MakeTorrent was a modified version of the Python 'completedir' program with extra features. Version 2.x is a complete rewrite in Delphi. Highly recommended!

You must first CREATE, then SEED...

That should get you started. Depending on what torrent app you are using the directions might be different. I use ABC, but there are many others. Just google your app name and "how to seed torrent" without quotes.

I'll give that link you posted a try too.

Tom, I have had that torrent you posted trying to connect for 2 days with no luck. I am not sure that it's active. Want to try something else?

Can you try contacting Emu-France and others if necessary about this please?

I dont have the latest version anyway by the looks of it.
