Hi all!!

I'm trying to configure winuae loader to launch my Amiga games, and when I start a game i get a black screen and return to Gameex menu.

I have the no-intro collection and don't know if it's possible to use winuae loader with this games....

I've readed some post to config winuae loader here in the forum, but i can't see how to configure the no-intro collection to run winuae loader.... sorry.

Attached my config files and log.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi Evilforces. WinUAE loader is currently only designed to be used withGameBase Amiga, SPS and WHDLoad game sets. .

I actually wasn't aware of the "no intro" set, and I can see the appeal if you're a purist and want the 100% original Amiga game experience. The downsides would be the load time and occasional manual code protections. Personally, the almost instant starting of games via WHDLoad makes this the clear winner in my books. Many of the WHDLoad ROMs don't have intros, anyway.

Sorry to slightly highjack your thread, but what is the reason behind using WinUAE Loader?

I am puzzled because from some other threads it sounded to me like WinUAE Loader is needed to run any Amiga games via WinUAE in GameEx, but personally I have been using WinUAE in GameEx without ever having WinUAE Loader... It's true that sometimes I find a game that doesn't start because it needs a different hardware config in WinUAE, but in general they start.

Thanks for the reply. Finally I removed this emulator because I have not gotten it to work at all. Whenever I start a game i get a black screen and return to GameEx. I have read many threads about configuration but can not find solution.

Thanks anyway.

Not only will it fix the hardware issues, but it will also mount multiple disks for you avoiding the need to do pretty much anything...

Hi Lurker,

I'm not the person to list all the benefits of WinUAE loader, but I can name a few. It's designed to make running huge piles of Amiga games much easier.

First of all, it's possible to setup to load games almost instantaneously via the WHDload set which is a real treat.

Secondly, you're able to very quickly setup a huge number of games right away with screencaptures (snaps) and settings, instead of manually setting up each one.

I've never tried, but how difficult is it to setup let's say 100 Amiga games on Gamex using only WinUAE, without WinUAE loader?

Yes this sounds like a good reason clearly, skipping loading times and avoiding multiple disks. But somehow I got the message that Amiga games just wouldn't run without WinUAE Loader, but now I see it was a misunderstanding :)

I am sure one day I will also switch to WHDLoad for those reasons, so far I just didn't want to face all the additional installation tasks.

I have seen the black-screen-return-to-GameEx case often with other emulators as well. Sometimes it's simply a wrong path, so make sure you've checked that.

But first of all, you should always make sure the emulator works and launches games as a standalone, not via GameEx. If you have a problem with configuration or kickstarts then games will fail to launch already when starting WinUAE from its exe file.

Then if you want to know, my current line command for WinUAE in GameEx is simply "winuae.exe [configuration path] -0 [gamefiles path]". However I have also added a WaitBeforeKeys=3000 and SendKeys="[ENTER]" in the Advanced Emulator Setup section.
