Evilforces Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Hi all,It's possible to do this? There are no options to do that on setup wizard....Thanks in advance!!!
RedDog Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 It can be done. The database list is compiled from a list of filenames in a directory in the GameEx directory. Changing the names would be as simple as changing the file names, but keep in mind that the next time GameEx is updated, if the databases were part of the update, the original files would be added back to the directory. Essentially, you would end up with a double list of databases. Kind of messy. Why do you want to change the database names?
Evilforces Posted March 21, 2015 Author Posted March 21, 2015 Hi RedDog!!!I only want to change the title of Gamebase on my emulators list.
RedDog Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I apologize. I misread your initial post. I thought you were talking about the Game Databases that can be enabled in the Emulator Setup section of the Setup Wizard.I am not familiar with the Gamebase function, so someone else will need to field your question.
nullPointer Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 In terms of Gamebase functionality, you must bear in mind that GameEx acts purely as a "pass through" for any information that is displayed within GameEx itself. It is Gamebase that actually maintains all control of that information. You might be able to change the name of the emulator within Gamebase though. It's been quite a while since I've even messed with Gamebase so you may need to have a play. When you're in Gamebase itself check the Emulator Properties. There you should find a field called Emulator Name. If you alter that name, it should in theory carry over to GameEx although you may need to clear your cached info in GameEx for the modified info to take hold.I basically refer back to this excellent guide prepared by myonions for any questions related to Gamebase. The guide itself is specific to AtariST, but also serves as a great source of general information for Gamebase integration within GameEx.
Evilforces Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 Hi Null!!Thanks for the answer, but i can't see the "emulator properties" menu inside Gamebase...Sorry Can you explain me wher to find this option? Thanks in advance!!!EDIT: Ok, i found it, but this is the name of every emulator i have configured on Gamebase, not the name of the Gamebase that shows on Gameex list...
nullPointer Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Ah, OK sorry about that, I wasn't sure whether it was possible using the directions I posted or not. As I mentioned it's been a long time since I messed with Gamebase, and in the mean time I've whittled my emulated systems down to include only arcade, console, and handheld systems to better accommodate the controllers I have available. I figured it was worth a shot!At any rate, in the guide I linked above you'll find directions on how to utilize custom menus to define how Gamebase systems are listed in GameEx (starting on page 14 of the guide). That will likely be your best option at this point. In addition to the guide I linked you can also find some excellent additional info on custom menus in the guide that DazzleHP posted a while back. 1
DazzleHP Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 To change the name GameEx uses for GameBase databases, just change the directory/folder name of the database itself It's been a while for me too but let's say the C64 GameBase defaults to GB_64 (again it's been a long time but it will be something similar to this) just rename the folder itself in Windows to Commodore 64 (or whatever you desire). GameEx will pick this up automatically 3
Evilforces Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 It works!!!Thanks for your help guys!!!
