Tom Speirs Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 If you just generally like playing around with hardware and software (like me) then this tip is for you.Although just experimental I am going to explain how you can get GameEx to install and run on the latest version of Ubuntu Linux.1. Install Ubunut (obviously!)2. Download the regular GameEx setup from gameex.com3. Search for and install PlayOnLinux from the software center.4. Chose to install a program, but choose to install another unlisted program.5. Install as 32-bit and name it GameEx.6. Choose to install some libraries and you want to install .net framework 2 SP2.7. Then install gameexsetup.exe from your downloads in your home folder.8; Run through GameEx setup and accept all the prompts.9. Scroll down and select the GameEx.exe shortcut.9. Finish the PlayOnLinux wizard.10. Play GameEx!Have fun!View the full article 2
DazzleHP Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Nice one!Once i get my new drive i fully intend to get a linux rig up and running using Steam OS, with as many emulators as possible. For those that are reading this and curious, this should also work with Mint, with minimal if any effort
Tom Speirs Posted January 14, 2015 Author Posted January 14, 2015 The only thing is, its a pain to setup up emulators, especially Linux ones. So its really only experimental. You would probably be better with big picture and a windows box.

I used it as my main OS for 3 years, only booting XP for games. Since i upgraded to W7 though i've dedicated literally all spare storage to gaming, so have neglected linux, But i want to get back into it, because well, it's fast!I know what you're saying though - linux and it's distro's, as far as they have come still need a certain amount of computer literacy to get working right, but it's only a matter of time! And with my comment, i was just suggesting that if you can get GX running in Ubuntu, you will most likely be able to get it running in Mint too, seeing as they use the same Kernel
