Yet another "Can't See Roms" thread...

This thread is being continued from this one (http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/15473-strange-categoriesfolders-in-mame-view/) since the original problem was solved (Thanks!) and it is now simply a Can't See Roms problem...

So, I had the roms working and could launch them from GameEx. Then, I switched to Game Launcher mode, and all of the roms disappeared. (I might have made another config change at the same time, but I don't remember making any.)

I have done the following:

- Checked rom paths. (There are two---the Capcom folder and the Taito folder.)

- Set Only Working Games to NO

- Set Allow Imperfect Games to YES

- Set Verify ROMS to NO

- Set Only Existing Roms to YES

- Set Use Game Filter to NO

Note that my Mame32 is version 101---which is old, I know, but a whole ton of my roms break on the newer version and 101 still allows you to skip the annoying Disclaimer/Warnings.

First, I'd take out the last ";" in your rom path. That may do something, not sure you need the final one there. Also, if you can, I'd put them all in one file. GameEx will separate the capcom and Taito roms I believe, within the mame section menu. Not sure you need two separate files, but if you do that's cool.

It basically simplifies navigation through GameEx. You can get the scoop here.

This setting changes the user interface of GameEx. Gamelauncher mode completely changes the way the user interface works is controlled and displays. It puts GameEx into a simple game mode, with simpler menus, simpler navigation, simpler navigating through your available game lists. Many of the menus are disabled by turning on this setting, and only games lists are available. Navigation is much simpler with paging by pressing left or right, and button 1 and 2 navigate the available lists. Button 3 launches game. Recommended for simple cab setups, where you want to lock things down or its for young children. It also supports low resolutions such as 320X240.

I switched it back from Game Launcher mode as soon as it choked on finding the roms, so it has been in normal mode for awhile.

I think that the "Cannot Load Play List. Check path and filename" in the log file may be giving a hint as to the problem. Do you folks know what it is looking for?

Another thing that might be causing problems is this:

The folder that this points to is actually empty. What does GameEx (and Mame) expect to see in this folder?

I think that Playlist error may be related to your media files for the jukebox but i can't be certain...

Could someone point me to where I could learn about what is happening here with the update list command? (i.e. what folders are used---and for what....and what the output(s) are, etc.)
