I have installed the most recent version of GameEx today for the 1st time. I have approximately 5000 working ROM's and have used other front ends before with no problems. When discovering games within GameEx, I notice a long amount of time (almost seems like it is hung) on creating verify.dat 55% which I'm guessing is a lengthy process but I wanted to verify (no pun intended) this is normal. I also searched the forum and found the below tip but it seems to be related to adding new games and not the initial discovery. Thanks.

When updating the MAME games list you can avoid the long wait for the verify by turning Verify ROMS off, and enabling Only Existing.

Hi JCGamer,

In the Setup Wizard you'll find the Verify ROMs setting on the MAME Settings screen under the Advanced MAME Settings heading.

Hey by the by, feel free to start a new thread for your questions if you like. We're not one of those forums that gets all uptight about saying, "You have to search every corner of the forum prior to asking any question," or anything. Obviously it's appreciated that you're clearly putting in your homework, but at the same time we don't want too many necro threads rising from their graves either. ;)

Thanks man! :)

No worries man! More a friendly reminder than anything. Like I said it's awesome that you're clearly researching your issues quite a bit before posting. Happy gaming! :)
