Hi, this question has probably been asked and answered but I can't find it.

I am new to GameEx and I love it!

The only problem I have so far is this, when I play Tempest in Mame32, the spinner works fine.

When I fire it up in GameEx, it does not work at all.

I went thru the basic configuration settings and I don't see a place where I can enable the spinner.

Can someboady tell me what to look at/modify?

It really bothers me when someone does not get a problem resolved here on the GX forums (even if it's from 2006).

Especially when it involves not being able to play Tempest.

Wonko, did you get your spinner working?

I will continue to scour every topic until all problems are resolved! :)

Believe it or not, I did not use the words "Tempest", or "spinner" in the search to find this...

Wonko - I'm serious - did you get it to work?

the tempest should just show up as another mouse. I vaguely recall some GX developments over the years have addressed the issue of two mice/trackballs/etc... should be good now, at least it works for me.. Only thing I could think of would be the Disable Mouse option in GX setup.

Did you try adding the -mouse switch to the advance mame config in gameex?

I just checked, wonko hasn't been online since 3/20/08. (For everybody else in the world 20/03/08) Why do you guys have to do everything backwards? :rolleyes:

Which is more recent then I would have thought...

GameEx was erring out on me with a DirectDraw error and I have not been using it lately.

GameEx was erring out on me with a DirectDraw error and I have not been using it lately.

I still had the tempest spinner issue but I never tried to edit my ini with the "-mouse" option, I will try that when I get my DirectDraw problem figured out.

Alot of the directx errors have been side-stepped (I don't want to say fixed) by changing themes.

It may also be a problem of running a theme in the wrong resolution IE: running a theme made for 1024x768 in 800x600.

You gotta keep working on it, You can't not play Tempest!

Edit: You may want to post your Gameex log

The only reason that I mentioned not reading the whole thing, is because I thought Wonko posting in reply to himself was funny.

I got a personal note from 'iano' referring to that DirectX problem and he gave me a link to a thread he started which lead me to an entry by Tempest about reinstalling DirectX, and it worked great.

And thanks also to Brian Hoffman.

I would have replied sooner but I got carrined away and played about 50 games of Tempest in celebration!
