Can anyone tell me how GameEX looks on an old arcade monitor. I have a 1986 Double Dribble cab that I refinished and am placing my mame system with GameEX into. I am debating on weather I will use this arcade monitor found in the cab and hook up with an Arcade VGA card, or place a regular pc monitor into the cab. I just wondered how GameEX works on older monitors with the limitations they have. I hear however that mame will look better and more original on an arcade monitor. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks

If having the games look like they original did in the arcade then there is no substitute for buying the AVGA card and hooking it to your real arcade monitor. Since you already have one I highly recommend this option.

If doing windows related things (jukebox, DVD, surfing the net) is more important then a PC monitor is okay, but it will never look 100% authentic to the original.

I use a VERY old (circa 1987) 19" arcade monitor with AVGA and I couldn't be happier with the display.

I use a Hantarex monitor from around the same period. I could not be much happier either with MAME or GameEx display. If the old monitor displays a real arcade game pretty good, you should be just as happy with MAME and GameEx.

As Dave says the AVGA is the way.
