[RESOLVED] Problem version 1.87 ledwiz and exit

Hey all.

I was having the LED's staying on problem with 1.87 when I updated it yesterday as well. I thought it was because I had multiple copies of PBX all over my machine but I guess that wasnt it. Anyway, I saved what I knew that I was going to need (all the media files and my .xml config files) to another directory and then deleted PBX first through Windows control panel and then the folder(s). I actually had to take ownership of a dll or ocx file in order to delete it, odd.... After it was all gone I re-installed 1.87 and now it works fine. LED's go dark on table exits as they should. I dont have a pause button on my machine but I should add one... Would be nice to have.

Sorry Tom, I had stepped away from the pinball for a little bit to work on my MAME cabinet build .... I will give this a go tomorrow and see ... if not I will try Gamefixer's solution and see if that is it or not ... the ownership of the file has me wondering something ...

Thanks for all your hard work and You will love the LedWiz and all the wonderful toys you can add with it.

That file ownership thing had me a bit perplexed too. I actually had to go into a command prompt window to delete the files, windows wouldnt let me do it no matter what I did.

Just to rule things out I attach 1.85 binary. Please test.

Confirmed that this works for me also ... spent about an hour playing and had no lights left on between tables ... about 10 different games or so.

Thanks Tom for hunting this one down. Now I can use My LedBlinky after exit again.

Assuming the above works please try the attached in this post and confirm it also works. There was a bug which caused the issue. However the latest version ALSO hides the visual pinball editor window to create a cleaner experience and that also may break things. The above has that removed but the one attached here has that code back in so please test this one too.

Cheers.

Tom.

As a side note anyone want to briefly tell me what I need to do to get my LedWiz doing something in VP? I only have a basic setup with a few LEDs and its only designed just so I can test and develop things.

I don't know how briefly it can be as it is a little involved (time Consuming) to set up.

First off do you have the tool from GGG for testing the Wiz to make sure it is hooked up correctly ... get the tool here http://www.groovygamegear.com/ledwiz.zip

that program will have a LumAura Control on the right hand side that will be able to test your led's on the ports you have them installed.

To make it all work with VP you need a couple of things installed first ... DOF .... get it here http://vpuniverse.com/forums/topic/721-directoutput-framework-announcement/

you will also need to install B2S Server ... to get that you will need to go to the config tool and Create and account and that is done here http://vpuniverse.com/ledwiz/login.php .... after you create an account you will see a link on the home page on the right to the B2S server files.

Also while there you need to configure your LedWiz for your specific ports for the toys and/or Led's you have connected save it and generate a config that will go into the tables folder of VP. (unzipped)

That is a quick and dirty description .... read the Docs and you should get it no problems. ....

Going to test these exe's now

Thanks Tom

Both exe's work well .... again I played for almost 2 hours and maybe a dozen tables or so and all different than the ones before .... no issues that I can see with the LedWiz and lights staying on after VP exits.

Thanks again Tom ... I love the support you provide.

Hi Tom-

Tried out both .exe files and they work well. The both show the same behavior which is very similar to 1.85. The LedWiz turns off for the majority of the tables with the exception of some of the physmod tables, but this is the behavior that I saw with 1.85 as well. Not sure what the difference is between the two versions of VPinball that would cause this.

Thanks for all of your efforts on this Tom!

I have to agree with Ark as I had one PhysMod table leave the lights on but as stated that was happening in 1.85 also ... since the PhysMod exe is not an official VP release I am ok with that. The table was Theatre of Magic and it will leave the Lights on almost every time but that table also will not save the DMD position to my 3rd screen, it always resets for that table only.

Thanks
