I have managed to get the CDI emulator working (from within GameEx) and loading a few roms but I have a few issues and wondered whether I could ask for help with the following issues;

1.) Why does the Mouse pointer stay in the centre of screen - Can I assume this is the primary controller rather than keyboard (which was not on the CDi)

2.) How do I get the Window fullscreen - it is fullscreen but runs the rom in a smaller window within this - is there anyway to stretch this from the command line from within GameEx?

3.) Some of the game video's are not playing (eg: Defender of the Crown) - I can hear the sound but nothing shows, am I doing something wrong, do I need to change a setting somewhere?

Thanks,

Neil

Hi SpyhunterUK

Just to verify, is this the emulator you're using for CD-i? (I can't imagine that CD-i emulators are popping out of the woodwork, but it doesn't hurt to verify) This is not a system I emulate currently but I have had a play with the emulator itself.

1.) Why does the Mouse pointer stay in the centre of screen - Can I assume this is the primary controller rather than keyboard (which was not on the CDi)

Based on what I've seen this seems to be related to the functionality of the emulator. If I were setting this up I would likely setup an Xpadder profile which allowed mouse movement via the controller (in addition to any other necessary controls)

2.) How do I get the Window fullscreen - it is fullscreen but runs the rom in a smaller window within this - is there anyway to stretch this from the command line from within GameEx?

This setting is maintained within the emulator itself. If you want to achieve fullscreen while maintaining the proper aspect ratio you'll want to apply the following settings:

In the CD-i emu, adjust the following settings:

Window > Select the following: Aspect + Stretch + Fullscreen

If on the other hand you would like full screen with a stretched aspect ratio you would do the same as the above less the Aspect setting

Window > Select the following: Stretch + Fullscreen

The Constrain setting seems to be what limits the viewable window to a smaller size within the emu.

3.) Some of the game video's are not playing (eg: Defender of the Crown) - I can hear the sound but nothing shows, am I doing something wrong, do I need to change a setting somewhere?

Are you referring to the preview video in GameEx, or to the performance of the game itself? If the latter, does the game play as expected when running outside of GameEx?

Yes that's the emulator and I also have the wrapper for GameEx.

Thanks. But how can I do this from the wrapper or command line via GameEx please.

Well, I'm not sure I'd attempt to make the changes while GameEx (or the wrapper) was running at all. Were it up to me, I'd just start the emulator directly and adjust those settings as needed. I believe (though I'm not strictly 100%) that those settings remain persistent between runs of the emulator. OTOH if they aren't persistent settings, then unfortunately I don't believe the emulator has command line options to support that functionality as far as I can tell (unless the wrapper you're using allows for manipulation of settings upon startup). The rule of thumb applies here that it's typically best to completely setup the emulator outside of GameEx prior to running within GameEx.

But ... if that doesn't work you can always improvise. ;) To that end, I suppose you could always launch an AHK script (or similar) as a 'Launch Before' process to quickly make the appropriate selections upon startup, but it is something that would be visible to the end-user (in the event that you're striving to maintain the illusion of 100% transparency to the end user).

thanks, having tried most of the games it appears only a handful work anyway so may leave this one of my list or just run in smaller window resolution for the handful so of games. thanks for your help.
