I've read the post on here from forever ago about these games and let me start my saying I know exactly how to get the games set up to run on with the shortcuts and stuff. But some things act very strangely for instance Contra Evolution HD will load up and behave fine until I get in game and if I walk to the right my guy disappears and the screen moves to the right really fast and its like my guy runs into the enemies on screen as its running to the right and theres NO WAY to play the game when this happens. I havent messed with the controls whatsoever because they are premapped and non configurable anyways. I do have Mapping off process close Alt+F4 in the settings though and was wondering if that could be whats making the controls weird.

I doubt GameEx had anything to do with that at all. :'(

I'm not sure I have that ROM anymore, I'll have to check and see. I really only play TTGM. ;)

Somehow the loader.exe that ran Contra Evolution keeps getting deleted when I run it through GameEx. I put the directory in my antivirus exclude list. Another game that I have issues with is Arcana Heart 3. It loads up in 480p but I'm pretty sure theres a way to change it because the loader lets me choose the resolution but it doesn't load in the resolution I choose. I'm just using shortcuts so idk why or how my loader file keeps getting deleted

Taito Type X

Nightmare.

(sorry not very helpful, but sharing your pain, brother ;) )

For what it's worth i've spent countless hours trying to get TypeX running consistently and it just won't have it. Until there is a uniform method for these games to run, rather than dirty hacks it will continue to cause problems. In the end i gave up and excluded it from my GE regular setup because they are just so unpredictable. Honestly i could load Gigawings and it'll run fine. I'll quit, load it back up and it'll start having seizures, even though no related process are running when i load for the second time. Some days i'll just get a crash-to-desktop, others a complete fullscreen freeze

Again, not very helpful, but like stigz i'm letting you know you're not the only one.

Yeah, it will do a false positive because the loader hooks your gpu in a less than conventional way. ;)

When I was setting this system up I gave up on AH3 for the same reason, plus it never quit gracefully anyway. I had to reboot my pc to get it to stop at all.

I had about 80% of the games working at one point. Then a lot seemed to stop working... Win or GPU updates... I dunno!

Such a shame thought, cos I loved the Taito X/2 games - especially the schmups, Daz! Can't remember which one now - but tried the console ports and they're just not the same!

Cummon emu community - code us a reliable TypeX package/emulator (I know, I know that it's strictly not emulation as based on PC hardware or summats!)

Score us a goal, uber and find that needle in a haystack!

omg lol that sounds so terrible. That kinda pisses me off to hear they don't work consistently. I just deleted BlazBlue Calamity Trigger because the game graphics are missing entirely when I get in game. I can get AH3 to load and quit just fine in GameEx it just looks so crappy in 480p. And don't get me started with Half Life 2 and Silent Hill..... That really is disappointing. A few great gems on these lines of cabs.

Can you maybe set up XP on VMWare and launch them that way in their native OS?

That would solve the glitch issues, but would make for some crazy load times. :)

That's a great idea, Adultery (although I've got no experience of OS emulators). Wonder how it would handle the ones that auto-rotate (the schmups etc)?

That might be a problem. ;)

It would still cause the same problems, they are just as bad on XP native machine, so they'll probably be even more so in a VM environment. BTW i switched to W7 just before Christmas, i was avid XP till then. Same problems.

Even more disappointment lol

Well, i would like em to work just as much as you - G-Genreations and RIV, also Homura are my dream shmups and i'm not gonna get better than TypeX/XII when it works. Sometimes though you just have to admit defeat and move on. Some when down the line these TypeX roms will get dumped/emulated properly, in a uniform manner and we'll wonder what all the fuss was about ^_^ And we'll refer back to these posts in reminiscence, having a good ol laugh ;)

Hopefully lol because it isn't even easy finding these games to begin with. They're so obscure still and 2009 was the last big spike of Taito Type X stuff goin on.

Exactly! When, if at any point was it particularly "hard" to acquire roms? If you're a solid investor in this hobby, the answer is NEVER. When the answer becomes "it isn't hard at all", is when we'll look back and laugh ^_^
