This is probably very basic and simple but I thought I'd ask anyway. Is there a way to get GameEx to play video snaps and/or Intro videos in "attract mode" or what not instead of having it play random games from MAME or other emulators? I could have swore I saw this discussed before and even remember someone saying they have videos playing instead of games... but I can't seem to find the topic. I'd rather have videos playing instead of games just because the emulators sometimes freeze up with different games.

Absolutely :)

Go to Setup Wizard> Attract/Screensaver, make sure

Play Videos too = Yes

Game to Video Ratio = Just Play Videos

Videos Path = \pathtosomevideos

You could even make one giant montage of your favorite games and have it is as the only vid ;)

I plan on doing that ;) Thanks Dazzle

EDIT: it seems the "Just play videos" option was what I was missing before when I tried this. Thanks again.

Sorry for the DP but when I select the option to turn the GameEx playlist off or "pause" I still hear music playing. Is there something I'm missing here? I have to manually puse the playlist before attract mode kicks in.

Edit: I figured it out.

Glad you're all sorted! Maybe in future if you solve your own issue, you could give us a summary of how you did it :) It might help future members who happen to find this thread through searching etc ;)

It would appear that I have to retract my previous statement. I fired up GameEx tonight, waiting for the screen saver to kick in and once again I'm hearing sound from the videos and the GameEx audio playlist simultaneously. I have "Pause GameEx playlist MAME with Sound" selected but the GameEx playlist continues to play. I have the same setting set in audio settings as well, so I'm not sure why GameEx wont pause the playlist and just play the video sound. I thought I had this sorted last night by deleting the jukebox files and restarting GameEx. I even did a reinstall over my previous install and still get the same results. Any ideas?

I've thought about this, and the more it occupies my mind space the more i'm convinced that this is exactly how it is intended to work. Here's why:

Picture this scenario: You have family and friends over for a big event, everyone is excited about your HTPC/Cab. After a little demonstration of the Jukebox feature, your guests start queuing loads of songs - an hours worth at least! How embarrassing word it be if, after 2 minutes (or however long you set the attract timer) the music cuts off, and BAM, in comes Mortal Kombat 3 demo at full volume!

It doesn't make sense, from a usability standpoint, to make the screensaver do that. ;) However playing the screensaver, or vids, without sound after inactivity might compel some of your guests to start playing. If it doesn't then that's OK - the music carries on! :)

I personally don't use the Jukebox feature of GE, and mainly because i don't feel the need for "TeH CHoonZ" when i'm gaming, but if i were in your situation i would enable "Show Start Screensaver" (in Enable/Disable Features) so that if i knew i was going to be away for a while, i could just force-start it.

The only other thing that makes sense is to set: Jukebox Startup = Wait for track selection.

Your music won't play on start up, but i'm assuming if you're booting you are present anyway right? So no harm in manually starting the jukebox ;)

I think ultimately you may have to choose - auto jukebox or screensaver as default. Having both at the same time doesn't seem logical

Never thought about it like that. Doing it the way you described makes more sense. Thanks again Dazzle! Consider this topic resolved.
