Latest XP, instant death for GameEx?

Hi..

Was looking forward to useing this GameEX thing but after downloading (and the mp3) installing...i cannot even run the config or any config...or even gameex, yes framework is installed, anti-v is off etc etc etc... whatever i downloaded as a hotfix maybe from M$ has knackered it... wont even run, theme editor works....erm but nothing else

Only app i have thats doing this, i suppose im stuffed... right

anyone reccommend a good front end?

as i say i installed the latest security updates for windows and hotfixes and this aint gonna work... i'll try .Net2.0...see what happens but i dont hold out much luck...

one of those hot fixes kills it anyways...good luck

NET2... Nope! - yeahs it's a windows thing... dunno what.. but i downloaded some recent hotfixes and well...it's death for ole GameEx, if you need any more info i can provide, cheers

Cant even open the log viewer... dear me, anyways check the attached, typical error running most exe's in the gameex dir... also im running net1.1, tried fixing the exes using the net config tool but no luck... well thats all i can do for now, i belioeve im never gonna get this to run.... also check for my hotfixes (quite alot, didnt upgrade for ages) , cheers

Its nothing to do with recent hot fixes, this problem was reported a long time ago. GameEx even detects this problem, as the error in the log says.

Somehow the way windows or .net is installed or setup, or because of other programs on the system, or disabled services, or missing OS files this issue happens. I stil have no idea why. The only known solution is to rebuild the OS. ie reinstall windows XP, and try again.

If you search the forum you can read up a lot more in it, but theres no known fix.

I'm really sorry, but I don't know of a fix for this, somehow your windows install is messed up, and that's the only information I can give you.

ok i'll un-install... anyways, where did that 93meg sound file go i wonder? it's not in the gameEX dir...y'know the one...upon setup... cannto find it...damn...but anyways thanks for the heads up i'll remember that, cheers
