DazzleHP Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I already had a sneaky peek in the PX forum This is great news! TY all involved
Tempest Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Very nice Tom. I'm looking forward to the Evolution, and everything that will Evolve.
hansolo77 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I saw GameEx Online from somewhere, and it probably was the PinballX forum. I don't have a pinball cab (but I really REALLY want one) so I haven't really done much more than lurk that area of the forum once or twice since it all started. Sounds like a cool thing to have, though I really don't understand the benefits. Xbox 360's modded dashboard "FSD" has remote access too, with abilities to manage paths, artwork, remote launch, view live screenshots, etc. I just don't see the need to have such access, and in fact makes me nervous about OTHER's being able to remote access your stuff. But all-in-all it's great seeing new things, and I'm excited to see what comes next!
Adultery Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Not sure how you mean "others can access your stuff". Keep your password secure and you won't have an issue. :-)For me it means I can remotely manage my cabinet from here when my kids have a problem, which is a clear benefit IMHO.
Tom Speirs Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 Its an optional feature so you don't have to worry about security if your not interested. Its different to FSD as the server portion runs on the internet so it just works. ie without mapping ports etc. Its an exciting feature that has a lot of potential for GameEx.GameEx game cards will also be moving here, so you will have to use it if you want to keep your game card 1
MNMax21 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 I like this. My laptop is a MAC, but my cabinet has a windows based PC. It'll be nice to sit at the couch with my MAC, watching some sports while I work on the functionality of my cabinet. Will this be similar to logging on to your desktop remotely (like splash in App Store) or just logging into your gameex files? I ask this, because my emulator files are in a separate file path.
Tom Speirs Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 Its just for control of GameEx. Right now the current functionality allows launching games and shutting down the app and the PC. Although for GameEx evolution I may add the ability to launch other media and change settings. 1
