Can't get GameEx to run with Windows 8

I just purchased a new latop with windows 8 and when I try to run gameEx it will load to the donation screen and that's as far as it gets.

Hi, GameEx is stalling trying to run mame32.exe as you can see at the end of the log. Maybe there is something wrong with this exe. Try running the file manually and see what happens. Its obviously stalling for some reason.
