Each time I load GameEx I have to reload MAME's game list.

How do I make GameEx remember what games I have for MAME?

Posted

Like the pop-up asks you to update the list?

Just right click to skip that prompt.

Didn't realize how incredibly vague my post was.

No, each time I open the MAME section I just have my Favorites folder displayed and nothing else.

If I rescan all of my games show up, but each time I exit they're gone again.

Hmm, it may be a permissions issue with writing the mame map file...

Do you have the proper permissions to write to the GameEx > Data folder? Try running GameEx as administrator and see if that works.

Does C:\GameEx\DATA\gamelist.txt exist? If so, does it contain the games you are finding during the update list command?

Posted

Yes it does, and it does list the games, along with all of the game descriptions.

Can you try turning off verify and as much of the filtering as possible. I recently set this up a few times and have not seen this issue. Maybe we can narrow it down to a filter or some other issue causing us grief.

Alright, so I enabled the folder "Show all MAME Games" and I'm able to access my games there. It's odd that I can access my games outside of the directory if I rescan, but, as I said, it doesn't remember.

So to clarify, I'm accessing my Games through this method.

Main Menu

>MAME

>All MAME Games

>[My Games Are Listed]

It seems like it'd make a lot more sense to access them like:

Main Menu

>MAME

>[My Games Are Listed]

But oh well. Problem solved I suppose.

There is a setting to show Mame on the main page, and if that doesn't work you can always use custom menus to make it look the way that you want it to.

Right, I have that ticked. But when I select it I get the menu (paraphrased):

>All MAME Games

>Rescan Collection

And nothing else.

And then when I select All MAME Games, I see my collection.

If I click Rescan it puts all of my games in the main MAME menu, but I have to rescan every time I reopen GameEx.

But, it's not a big deal.
