BUG ? MAME and gameex update

hello again

running mame 0.152 64bit (official)

full set of rom

win 7 64B , gameex 13.2 (paid)

so when i was on 0.151, no pbm, around 8000games on gameex

now i update on 0.152, and only 436 games.. gameex shows only until the game "carnevil" ...

I tried everything

I updated 10X

becoming crazy

the listinfo.dat and gamelist show all the games, the verify.dat too

but in gameex.. always 436

maybe there is a cache I can delete somewhere ??

I've been advised before to delete all files in the GameEx>Data Folder that contain any file extension with the word "cache" in it, like below:

Worked for me, but don't know if it'll help with your prob. Don't worry about deleting them though, GE just recreates the necessary files on re-launch.

i'm going to guess that you need to turn off the verify roms option. Don't forget to update your list.

I had this exact same problem yesterday when i updated from 150 and after much troubleshooting it turned out to be an error in the latest history.dat. In the description for CarnEvil there is an invalid character, which halts the update process at said game. In the description there is this:

[shotgun|shotguns] - the blue character is the invalid one. I changed it to this:

[shotgun or shotguns]

updated MAME list and all is back to normal. You may manually change it yourself or just grab my edited version

I take no credit for the fix - it was actually discovered by Rychem28 in this thread.

Just wanted to let know folks I have tested with MAME 152 and so no issues with it for a default GameEx install..
