Exiting emulators with x-arcade

I have got GameEx running with MAME and a few other emulators so far and I am using the x-arcade to contol it all, now the x-arcade uses multi button presses to create other keyboard actions, in this case P2 start and P2 credit (the numbers 2 & 4) = the escape key, which works fine with MAME to quit me back to GameEx, but with any other emulator this has no effect even though they are escape to quit too, any help?
