I absolutly love GameEx, I used Mamewah for over a year before I discovered it sucked compared to this!

I have a couple of feature requests however..

1. Password protection...

I have a lot of music and dvd videos on my system that I don't want my children to have access to that have cussing and nudity in them. It would be great to be able to password protect video, audio or even mame adult games.

Basically if you tried to access the directory a prompt would appear and you could enter a controller combination to access the contents.

Something like "Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right..." Umm... yeah, something like that anyways.

2. Individual Settings for different Emulators/Videos/Music/Mame..

What I mean by that is, like the show additional game info menu. I love it for Mame, however I absolutly hate it on the videos, and some of the other emulators I have. I would love to be able to turn it on or off for each individual section.

3. Easy to use Key Editor

Also a easy to use Key Editor would be great, so you can just bring up a editor screen and hit the key you want to use for each command instead of editing the cfg file.

4. Multiple keys mapable for each command.

It would rule and I know a lot of other people would love this feature as well. It just makes sence to have all the players controlls be able to operate the menus.

I love the program keep up the great work..

A nice set of requests. About no. 3, it's funny you mention that because I recently sent Tom a program that will read a keystroke and convert to the appropriate GameEx key code. I was hoping he would integrate it into GameEx. Perhaps he will when he gets time, there is a bucket load of stuff in the pipeline for GameEx, including updating GameEx to support more of the Theme Editor features like the CP editor, Info/Image separation and multiple arcade layout support. So Tom has a full plate, but it's nice to see good feature requests.

I have one addition to your password protection request, it's been asked before but if a password entry system is created it will make it easy to add. Basically a password upon exit. So you can enable esc key to exit but not just drop out straight away.

one problem I see with the password protected files is durring jukebox. If you have it set to random and the algorithm lands on a "locked" song you will lose audio and have a password box. Gameex will either have to scan the file before play, or an "Exclude the following(files or folders)" will need to be added to the Random function.

People ask a lot about this, but GameEx already has this functionality via "Service Mode" and has done for some time. The idea is you basically set all the lock down options such as disable escape, hide create snaps and disable update list. Then enter service mode and it enables them.

Its on the docs page. Maybe its not working right or something?

Cheers.

Instead of password protecting individual files I wanted it to have the ability to password protect an entire directorys. Then you just stick all your mature files in there own directorys and your normal music/videos in a normal directory. When you choose "play random" or "play all" you would have to have already entered the password to have entered that directory. It would be easy to implement, you could even add it similar to linux/apache .htpasswd system. If the directory contains a password file then it is password protected.

It would be an awesome feature...

Great! Never heard about this option (still learning new things about GameEx!). I'll check it out.
