I have your game themes in a folder called themes under Atari_2600. Attatched is may gameex.ini.

Ok here are 3 new game themes for the Atari 2600 system. I am working on all the Board/Card game themes right now for the next release pak (btw no eta when I will have this ready).

So I am a little confused you have Emu_76 as Phillips CDI but have the command line as MESS pointing to 2600????

As well as some custom art paths pointing to Sega 32X.

Posted

I see the problem remove the custom background image and custom art path ;)

Try this new config. I deleted the issues that I think were causing the display issues.

Still no work. Both those are turned off. CDI, because I don't have theme yet. Sega 32x has some special paths for some artwork I am working on. Please post you gameex.ini and I'll look at that when I get home from work. Thanks

yes sorry noticed that after the fact I might have time tonight to give it more complete look over kinda rushed it last night as I saw you online and wanted to see if I could fix it while you where online. I sure it is a simple setting as it is not displaying at fullscreen

May I ask which emulator number do you have assigned to Atari 2600? I may have found your problem but need to know which emu # you use for your atari 2600. Thye name of your STart Page Name and Title Text needs to match my Atari 2600.ini so if you have it named Atari 2600 & VCS (MESS) rename it to Atari 2600 or change the name of the Atari 2600.ini to Atari 2600 & VCS (MESS).ini

I am using MESS as the emulator. Start page name is [Console] Atari 2600 & VCS (MESS). Acually have it working using a different approach. I Have the Background Snap Path pointing to the title folder. I deleted the contents of all the others, (Box, cart, snap etc)

It works perfect except the bottom where you have the cart number , it also show over it the list number . I'll try your approach in a few minutes.

I thought so you just need to change the name to Atari 2600 and it will work or like I said if you want to keep your name then change the Atari 2600.ini to what I mentioned above or you could just copy and paste the contents of my Atarti 2600.ini to your [Console] Atari 2600 & VCS (MESS).ini ;)

Changed the start page and test to [Console} Atari 2600 & VCS (MESS) and now works. Thank You. When you scroll thru box, snap cart etc. then you get to title and it show a small version of your game theme. Is that the way its supposed to be or is there a way to turn title off on the game page. If it supposed to be that way or there is now way to turn it off, no big deal. Now that you have my Gameex. Ini you can see some of the systems that I still new themes for. As you put out more Atari 2600 game themes or new system screens, I add them to my setup. The pics I send you and the ini file are on my computer I use this for testing and then move completed things to my television setup. Thanks for all your help and your new themes. Gonna go offline in a bit and transfer some more placeholder system themes and you Atar2600 game themes to my television.

Yes this is a limitation of GameEx that I can't get around. If there was a way for GameEx to turn on/off displaying Title/Box/Carts art individually in the settings then this would be possible but as it stands no maybe when Evo comes out I can fix this issue.

just took a break before calling it a night. Worked in my system for my television and got the Atari 2600 themes showing a make 56placeholders to hold me until you get to them. They were Phillips CD-I, Action Max, the first Odessey,, Intertion VC-4000, DICE and Sega Pico. I hope as you get 4 o5 new Atari 2600 themes done you put out Atari 2600 theme pak. Just need the themes and a new map file in each pak. Also hope you continue the system themes. Gonna call it a night, talk with you tommorow

Black Jack, Casino, Codebreaker, Basic Math and Hunt & Score are done!

I should have a new 2600 game pak and map file ready tonight some time. ;)

@ Krak: do you perhaps know when you'll add the Gameroom MSX and Amiga theme to a next downloadable themepack ?

You've created a MSX and Amiga theme last April.

Thanks in advance !!

msx and amiga was released along time ago. I forget whick pak it's in

...sorry. I thought it would be part of a theme pack  ... my bad . I think I'll have to change my config to let GameEx show these two themes...

Ok here is my first Atari 2600 game theme pak. This includes:

- Backgammon - Basic Math

- Black Jack - Brain Games

- Casino - Codebreaker

- Flag Capture - Othello

- Video Checkers - Video Chess

*Updated map file included.

** Requires preview build of my Atari 2600 theme found here.

I relised I forgot the Hunt & Score theme and will include that in the next pak.

MSX and Amiga was in the original build. The above 2600 pak is missing the Hunt and Score theme. Would it be possible to have the theme show the default 2600 theme if a game theme is not in the title folder. Then you would not have to build a new map file each time you make a new game theme. Love what you are doing. Know you arte like me and get sidetrack easy. How about rotating to keep the interest up. Make a new system pak. then make a game pak.

No the default theme is different and would not work with this setup plus I have it when switching between games you can see the cart slot empy making it look like your swapping out carts. I made a note at the bottom of my previous post about the Hunt & Score theme but thanks for noticing. :P

Creating the map files is super easy using the Map File Maker so that is really no big deal. :)

To be honest with you I am finding creating these 2600 themes quite enjoyable as it's taking me back to when I was a kid playing all these games with my friends. I remember going to K-mart this was back in the late 70's early 80's with my friends and playing in the arcade they had in there and going to the electronics section and looking and playing the games at the Atari kiosk booth they had setup. All the memories :) .... and going to the food booth they had to eat those pretzels, popcorn and subs might I add those subs were damn good too and also drinking cherry/cola icees (many brain freezes might I tell you).

My very first game for the 2600 was Missile Command. I was so anxious for christmas day to get over so I could run up to K-mart (spend my chri$tmas money) and get it all the time hoping that it wasn't sold out. Actually I managed to get the last copy they had left (was mean't to be I suppose). Funny how we can remember those kinda things so so many years ago. Wish I can go back ... those were some damn good times as a kid.

Anyways enough story telling more themes I completed tonight. Gotta love the box artwork back then. ;)

Hell, I still do all that now. :D I find myself using you as my K-Mart right now. Can't wait to get home to see what pak you have next. Whatever it is I rush home and add it to my HD setup and show the kids what new . They are playing more of the retro stuff right now then their new stuff. That really takes me back.
