I finally have visual pinball working, but I find that I browse to Emulated Games>Visual Pingall it generates a game list every time I am running a new game ex session. Additionally, on the left menu I don't have browse by name. If I choose to play a table, then escape out of the table, I end up back at the data sheet for that table, but in order to get to the list of all tables I have to use the main menu button on the top right. So to switch tables I have to navigate every time through Emulated Games>Visual Pinball>Table list.

If you allow me to speculate wildly, I would guess that it's because there's no .ini file for the visual pinball tables. Is there a way to generate one? or find one online? Or something elese all together?

What about a game list update? The only way I know how to do this is to start game ex from the command promt and use listupdate switch, but the website says this only updates the mame list.

I'd also like to hide the create snaps button which does show up for visual pinball, but strangely not for anything else. I do have snaps for all my mame (actually videos) and for all my VP Tables. I'm in the process of getting vids for SNES. Though it may be faster to create my own snaps (not vids); except I don't have that option on the SNES page.

Thanks in advance.

I also find that I can't run Visual Pinball with ShowDesktop=No.

I found that if I send "o" keystroke I can get by the TAF menu without seeing it, but when the tables load I get the pinmame window but no table, just blackness.

I'm running Vusual Pinball as an emulator, under emulated games. I didn't use the visual pinball choice in the top drop down menu of the mulator config.

I'm also running vpauto with it which nicely gets by the nag screens.

GameEx automatically creates a map file when loading emulators, it's in the data directory. You can tell GameEx to use this instead of scanning for files each session. To update then you will need to tell it not to use the map file, then once created use it again.

GameEx has a Navigate Back function sort of like a web browser you should be using that to go back rather than going through all the menus again. Look at my docs page for what keys and buttons do this "Back"

When an emulator is using a database file the Create Snaps option is not shown.

There is also an option in the config to hide this button completly.

You only get a browse by name etc when an emulator has a database, and we don't have one for Visual Pinball Yet.

Ill add some of this stuff to the FAQ, some of this has been asked a couple of times now.

Thanks.

When I downloaded the visual pinball tables I found a .dat file. I will have to look for it again. It may be the one used by or created by VPLauncher, which I'm not using now thanks to game-ex. Not being a programmer myself, I'm not sure if I'll be able to deterimine if it's in a useful format for game-ex.

Do you know of this file? or would like to see it.? I'll see if I can attach it when I get home.
