GameEx as shell

Hey folks,

I finally finished my cabinet and am setting up my rig. I replaced the shell with GameEx. It starts to load and then errors out with the log below. Has anyone else gotten GameEx to run as the shell instead of explorer? What did you do?

I am running GameEx as shell with no errors. The easiest way to do this is to change the line in the registry that points to explorer and point it to gameex instead. Sorry, I don't have it handy, but you should be able to google it.

Oops it looks like I forgot to include the log file in my last message. Anyway it's promising that someone else has gotten it working so I know it's possible. The actual registry change is no problem, I've been running an alternate shell on another box for quite a while now. Not sure why I'm having problems with GameEx. I'll continue to play around with it when I get home.

I am also running GameEx as a shell now. I made sure all my other problems were adressed and Windows was optimized as much as I was going to do then followed the instructions on the page from GameEx site under extras.

Woo hoo!

Finally got GameEx running as the shell. Seems as though I had to add this to my registry:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer and change DesktopProcess to 1

Not sure why I didn't have to do this on my other box, but oh well.
