Steam Games suggestions

Hello fellow GameExers,

Steam often introduces nice games which are perfect to add to your Arcade HDTV or Cabinet setup and play through GameEx ! So I thought it would be nice to start a thread where everybody who finds a nice game on Steam shares this with our GameEx community

I think arcade style platform games, pinball games and any games which can be played with a gamepad are perfect for an arcade setup. Games which can only be played using a mouse but have an arcade style gameplay may however also fit the bill. It can be any game you can come up with...all suggestions are welcome

So feel free to share any of your steam game suggestions...

Nice idea GC! Here are a few I like. I'll try to stick to more arcade style games.

Braid - If there was ever a Doctor Who platformer (OK, another Doctor Who platformer - and one that was actually good), it would be something like Braid.

The Bridge - I haven't played this game a whole lot yet, but it really is awesome. It's described as a platformer where Isaac Newton meets M. C. Escher. Yep that about sums it up.

Choplifter HD - Great modern update to this helicopter rescue game. Enough with these cerebral thinkin' type games! Let's blow stuff up!

Dustforce - This game seems to have flown fairly under the radar even for an indie game. What if instead of an alt dimension ninja infiltrator Strider Hiryu had opted for life as ... a janitor? That's this game.

Half Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax Ultimate Boy - Do you like RPGs, but just don't have time for them the way you used to? How's about a game with quests lasting somewhere around the 30 second mark? Good times.

Jamestown - Crazy top down old school shooting action. Bullet Hell Awaits!

Mark of the Ninja - I. Love. Ninja Games. (Hey I grew up in the 80s). And this is the best one out there right now, maybe the best one evar! Fight me.

So that's a decent round up for now. I'll probably post a few more later. I'm going to go play Mark of the Ninja!

Yeah great idea GC! I already want DustForce after reading null's post looks awesome and wasn't even aware of it.

Most of the games i own have already been mentioned, here are the few left that i also think will work well in a cab/HTPC environment:

Beat Hazard - Is a Dual/Twin-Stick shoot-em-up that uses your own music to generate the enemies and your bullets! Collecting Volume power-ups increases the volume and therefore the "loudness" on screen. Quite a unique game and one of my faves!

Blocks that Matter - A puzzle platformer involving blocks. No, really! It's actually a lot more addictive than it sounds and rather challenging too. If you like your brain being taxed while avoiding enemies platform styly this one is for you.

eXceed 2nd: Vampire REX - A polarity shmup (ala Ikaruga) and a hectic one at that. If you were a Ikaruga fan you'll love this. Guaranteed.

eXceed 3rd: Jade Penetrate Black - Probably the best commercially released JP-Bullet-Hell shmup i've played. It has it all - tight controls, lock-on, infinite homing missile style attack, bombs, extra satellite "ships". Only one game on this planet beats it IMO and it's not commercially available.

Hitogata Happa - Anime style vertical shmup. Big, bright and cheerfull. Till you start playing - the hardest shmup i've played? Probably.

Rhythm Zone - One of them rhythm/beat games that can use your own music collection and has the nice bonus of periodically adding songs from upcoming indie bands, helping you discover new music as you play. All for it!

Shatter - It's a ball-and-paddle game but how best to describe it? OK, Arkanoid v9000 with crazy boss fights and an orientation problem. Gravity alteration device included! Seriously love this game! (Ignore the "partial controller support" on store page - i can access every feature with my 360 pad, infact i've never needed anything else so not sure why it's stated as partial)

Sine Mora - A very modern, western style shoot em up. Unique power up system, beautiful graphics and tons of unlockables! Actually has a story line and radio chatter that makes you really lol! Check it out.

Here are two other suggestions:

Spelunky

Spelunky is a unique platformer with randomized levels that offer a challenging new experience each time you play. Journey deep underground and explore fantastic places filled with all manner of monsters, traps, and treasure. You'll have complete freedom while you navigate the fully-destructible environments and master their many secrets.

Rogue Legacy

Rogue Legacy is a genealogical rogue-"LITE" where anyone can be a hero. Each time you die, your child will succeed you. Every child is unique. One child might be colorblind, another might have tourettes-- they could even be a dwarf. That's OK, because no one is perfect, and you don't have to be perfect to win this game.

I've just bought Spelunky. I haven't tried Rogue Legacy yet but it's recommended by a lot...

Now let's play Spelunky !!!

Mark of the Ninja is fantastic.

Trine 1 was great but for some reason Trine 2 didn't grab me the same.

I must check out Dust Force it's been on my wishlist for a long time now.
