This just in from the Hell Freezes Over Department, ePSXe 1.9.0 has been released! (Actually to be fair the time between this release and 1.8.0 has been a blink of an eye compared to the amount of time between 1.7.0 and 1.8.0)

ePSXe 1.9.0 for windows and linux have been released.

You can find them in the downloads section.

The main changes are:
Many fixes to the core and cdrom decoder (Fixed/improved 30+ games)
More cheat code support
Updated internal SPU plugin

Regards,
ePSXe Team.

- Added support for more types of Gameshark cheat codes. (D0-D3, E0-E3).

- Added support for multi-bin iso format (redump format), and preliminary
support for ECM iso format.

- The internal SPU plugin has been updated to the 1.9.0 version. It includes
fixes on interpolation (Square games) and other minnor fixes (Kururin Pa!).

- Added support for joysticks with Circle analog Range. Choose "Full Circle"
on the kind of analog on configure gamepad screen. (Logitech and Xbox
gamepads).

- Fixed analog full range to -128,127. (Ape Escape)

- Fixes to the CD-Rom decoder and the core which made almost 30 more games
playable or working better like. For example this fixed TempestX3,
Duke Nukem Land of Babes, Rayman, Kiganjo,
Kids Station - Motto! Oja Maho Doremi Dokkan! Maho Dou Eigo Festival,
Firo & Klawd, Stahlfeder ...

- Note: for information about compatibility and games's configuration,
it is recommended that you visit the "Playstation Datacenter" at
http://psxdatacenter.com/. We want to thank Gladiator who has
been a very important help in betatesting the new version.

I'm pretty pumped to see a new release version of this venerable emulator, how about you guys and gals?

I still use pSX, but I may still give this a throw.

I still use pSX, but I may still give this a throw.

These are the aspects I'm most excited to try out given that these have been some longstanding issues with ePSXe:

- Added support for multi-bin iso format (redump format), and preliminary

support for ECM iso format.

- The internal SPU plugin has been updated to the 1.9.0 version. It includes

fixes on interpolation (Square games) and other minnor fixes (Kururin Pa!).

- Added support for joysticks with Circle analog Range. Choose "Full Circle"

on the kind of analog on configure gamepad screen. (Logitech and Xbox

gamepads).

- Fixed analog full range to -128,127. (Ape Escape)

The native support of multi-bin images is pretty huge, and any fix to controller support is always a welcome addition. On the downside it still stores all emulator and plugin settings in the registry (ePSXe has always done it this way and I don't really see it changing in the future). A note to all emulator authors: Please, please stop doing this.

Having said that Xebra is actually my PlayStation emulator of choice at least in terms of the quality of emulation, but holy jumping cats is it ever a bear with regard to intuitive configuration and general user friendliness (spoiler alert: it's not. At all.).

Thanks for the share nP.

I was actually in the middle of setting up 1.8 but now 1.9 is out I will give it a spin and maybe xebra too.

Thanks for the info null! Goin' to download and update ePSXe!

ePSXe is my emulator of choice. I've set up Xebra and pSX too, so I have all of three "at my disposal". Although I appreciate Xebra and pSX for accuracy and fidelity of emulation, I can't renounce at the "pimped" graphic enhancements epsxe's plugins offer.
