Hi out there --

First off, I just wanted to mention that GameEx is, quite possibly, the coolest/best looking front-end I've ever seen. I've had my MAME cabinet setup for about 3 years now, and all this time I've just been using the standard MAME32 interface for selecting things. I tried out a few options, but none were really where I wanted them to be, and some were kind of confusing. Gameex looks to have been crawling around in my head for quite some time, because this is *exactly* the type of interface that I have been looking for. Slick design, easy interface, customizable as all get out. Much thanks to Tom for all the work I'm sure you have poured into this project.

That being said, I do have a question about how the application filters ROMS. I can update the mame list fine and games show up. However, I've got one specific game (New Fantasia) that I just cannot get to show up within Gameex. I can play it out of mame32 just fine, but not inside.

I've not really done anything with the default filter setting that ship with the product. I think I set "allow imperfect games" to yes, and set "only working games" to no. I've set adult games to "gimme the goods" or whatever it says, and turned off clones and mahjong. The only other thing I have is the "game filter" with the default keywords in it, but I've checked the ROM itself and it does not contain any of the keywords.

I was just wondering if there was an easy way to determine why this game (or others that I may not have noticed right now) are not being displayed. If anyone could offer any advice, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Many thanks for the praise. It's always great to such nice feedback.

I have just implemented a new feature, that will allow certain ROMS to always be included in the list. Sort of like an always include ROM.

This will be available soon, so just hold out for a while.

I am on vacation at the moment, so it might be a few days before its available.

Thanks,

Tom

Sounds good...thanks for the quick update!

Just as an aside...do upgrades keep the existing settings? Like when this new version comes out in a few days, will I need to redo things or will everything carry over to the new one? Just curious...

Thanks again!

Yes, it keeps existing settings, and actually runs a little upgrade program.

Unless I screw up royally you wont need to redo anything :)
