Hi, i'd like too see that GameEx would be updated nearly every week.

But what do you think about, to host partial updates from the last 10 versions on the GameEx homepage, so we don't need to download each time the whole 20MB package ,just only the partial updates of about 1MB?

And each time GameEx has a new round number like 5.70 or 5.80 and so on, a full one will be released. it'll extremely decrease the traffic amount.

any comments ? what do you think about that tom ?

it seems to me there is almost a new version every week. sometimes multiple in a week.

i like the idea about the smaller, partial updates but since i have a fast connection, it doesnt really matter to me.

the round number update isn't really necisary. i think when a lot of new content is added, tom bumps the version number up a large notch to emphasize the changes/additions to gameex. also, the smaller incremental updates are neccisary sometimes as new features cause new behaviors and a quick patch to fix the problem(s) is necisary. those are my thoughts.

I've also been thinking about this recently.

I also have a fast connection and can download the whole thing in a few minutes, but a smaller update would be much faster and easier for me.

The update could be provided as a separate setup file that includes all the changes, or simply a replacement exe. The URL to the update could be posted to the forums so as not to confuse new users if necessary.

Perhaps GameEx should be changed to a stable + beta release system. At the current rate, GameEx is going to run out of version numbers :). Perhaps release a new stable version every month or two and beta updates to the forum every few days like is currently done.

An auto-update feature in the GameEx config app would be the final goal to aim for. The user could choose to check for stable or beta updates and it would only download the necessary files to update to the latest version.

Just some ideas...

i belive the easyiest way to narrow some mb off the size would be excluding the themes and make them download able

not that it matters for my connection but i guess it can be alittle much for modem users
