Hi there!

I'm posting this from another computer, but later if needed I'll post any needed files.

My problem is zinc. If I go to mame, then choose zinc game's list I can see the video thumbnails perfectly.

If I choose zinc as stand alone emulator I can see the games, the paths are fine... but no videos displayed.

First I tried setting the videos to the same ones for mame, as that's where I also point for the roms. Games work, but not videos nor snaps.

Then I made sure and downloaded snaps and videos from emumovies, checked they are right there, snaps, videos and anything else... but on gameex they're not being loaded anyway :?

Hi helpman

A small clarification may be in order. So you mentioned that zinc games appear OK in your MAME list, but not as a stand alone emulator. Does this mean that:

  • You've integrated your MAME list with Zinc, and Zinc games appear OK in All MAME Games, but not when you select the Playstation games list within MAME menu.

    - OR -
  • You've configured zinc as a standalone emulator in addition to having zinc games within your MAME list, and zinc games appear OK under MAME, but not with the standalone emulator.s

Your GameEx.ini would probably provide the best insight into these questions. Depending on the answer to these questions it may mean that you need two sets of the same videos using different naming conventions stored in separate directories.

Hi there!

It's the second option. As I'm using a custom menu, I added mame, zinc and sega model 2 as separate arcade options.

All mame games are ok, playstation game list under mame is ok, but if I choose Zinc (as configured on other emulators) it just won't show videos.

Weird thing is that making it look on the mame roms list, without changing rom names to numbers it loads them without problem, but pointing to a folder with videos both with mame's rom names AND just the zinc's numbers as romname they won't show anyway...

Just to make sure I'm not doing something wrong, here's the gameex.ini

Roms for zinc are in D:\games\arcade\emulators\zinc\roms

Snaps are in d:\games\arcade\emulators\zinc\snap

Videos are in d:\games\arcade\emulators\video_mp4

They're also on the mame folder, D:\games\arcade\emulators\mame\roms and d:\games\arcade\emulators\mame\snap and d:\games\arcade\emulators\mame\video_mp4

But no matter where I point to on the gameex setup wizard, videos (nor snaps) will show on gameex :?

Every other emulator works fine, it's just zinc :?

What are the details of the map file you're using? Can you post one line of it or post the whole thing if you want so that we can see what's going on?

Ok. I've seen this before. The reason is because GameEx changes the rom names from the rom name to the rom number for handling of this particular emulator. But the problem is that it also is looking for the numbered videos to match. This was a flaw in this particular setup which has been brought up before but was never addressed. Solutions would be to use GameEx's integration for this emulator, rename your videos to the numbered roms, or to not use the map file but use a loader for the handling of using the rom number in command-line.

I'll just use the mame submenu... even using numbers the videos didn't work.

After all, I have those same games in Mame, so... goodbye standalone zinc :D
