You might need to use an advanced config to watch for additional processes. I don't know anything about Blue Stacks, but I suspect this because of the name of the app that you are using - 'HD-StartLauncher.exe'

First a a quick bit of background and then to the point. Unless specifically configured otherwise GameEx watches the application launched via runitgame.bat (the primary command, not Launch Before, Launch After, etc.) to determine when to give focus back to GameEx. So typically a 'Launcher' sort of throws a monkey wrench in this model, since a Launcher is typically a smaller program designed to run only long enough to start another program. So GameEx starts the Launcher, the Launcher does it's thing and closes, and GameEx thinks you're done with your application and takes back focus.

So that's what Tempest and Han are getting at. You may need to use an Advanced Config as it will let you configure additional Watched Processes. In this way GameEx will know not to take back focus until all watched processes have closed.

... But here's the catch. You cannot use an Advanced Config when you configure an External Application. So you may need to configure this as an Emulator rather than an External Application so you can apply an Advanced Config. I know it sounds odd, but the Emulator config will allow you greater control over the program.

If you would be so kind, please post your emulator config containing your current settings. Like the others I don't know much about BlueStacks, and after researching it a bit, I don't think it's something I'm going to install on my own rig. Having a look at your current progress will help us to make better suggestions about getting you up and running. Please refer to the How to Ask For Help thread for instructions on exporting a single emulator config.

Thanks man!

nullPointer is right on. With a launcher, it usually only launches the program then closes, then GameEx see's that it's closed and then comes back up. Something you MIGHT be able to do is create a BATCH file. Have GameEx launch that. Then when the BATCH file closes, GameEx will resume. I don't quite remember how to set it up, somebody else could be more helpful there. But I do remember you can configure a BATCH file to watch for a process to close before going to the next line in the BATCH.

Also, is it necessary to run the launcher? Outside of GameEx, run your Task Manager and see what program the launcher actually loads up. Then try to run that directly without the launcher. If it works, tell GameEx to run that program instead...

if I did well, but got it the program opens Bluestack behind the frontend and it returns to the menu. Top put the ini file you use.

sorry but I'm a little confused do not know what is the process to be modified to GameEx not return to the menu and run the front

OK, this is good progress. I'm going to incorporate some of Han's advice, but I'm going to take it a slightly different direction. Here's what I'd like you to try:

  • First do like Han says. Launch your game, open up Windows Task Manager, and find the name of the application that your launcher starts up (i.e. the application that's running your game or whatever)
  • Open up notepad and paste the following contents into it.

  • Save the file as BlueStacks.ini (or whatever you like) in the following directory:
    ...\GameEx\CONFIG\EMULATORS
  • Locate the following section of your file and modify it like so (Remember to follow the instructions - this is only the name of the executable. Do not include the extension.):

#Additional processes to wait to exit or close on exit. Dont include the .exe. Leave blank not to use.

Process1=[Enter the name of your application right here]

This is what's known as an Advanced Emulator Config around these parts. You can edit your Advanced Emulator config through the Setup Wizard. At this point you will need to configure GameEx to actually use your new Advanced Emulator config for BlueStacks. Do the following:

  • Open the Setup Wizard and navigate to the Advanced Emulator Setup screen for your BlueStacks setup. On that screen you'll see a field called Advanced Config. Your new advanced emulator config (BlueStacks or whatever you called it) should appear in that dropdown list. Select your new config and exit the Setup Wizard.
  • (Optional) After selecting your Advanced Emulator Config, you can also edit the contents by clicking the '...' button. This will open up a GUI editor for the config which is quite a bit more user-friendly than editing the config with notepad.

Good luck Paul, and let us know how you're getting along with this.

Hmm ... if you followed those instructions you should see that Advanced Emulator Config in the appropriate dropdown on the Advanced Emulator Setup screen. If you copied the above text into a file called BlueStacks.ini (or whatever you would prefer) in the ...\GameEx\CONFIG\EMULATORS (where '...' is wherever you have GameEx installed), you should see it as an available choice in the following field on the Advanced Emulator Setup screen:

The easiest way to see what's happening will be to take a look at your current settings. When you have a moment please post your current progress in the form of your Emulator Config for BlueStacks as well as the BlueStacks.ini file you created above (if that's what you called the file).

Thanks man!

You will only be able to configure individual games as ROMs if BlueStacks is actually capable of running individual games directly from the command line. Otherwise it's a lost cause (unless someone has written a loader or wrapper to automate loading individual games).

You need to figure out how to run a game from the command line or a bat file, and then use the command in GameEx. Sometimes it takes a bit of trial and error to figure things out, so you will have to decide if it is worth the time to get it going.

My guess would be HD-Frontend.exe "RomName" or HD-Frontend.exe "RomName\RomPath"
