I bought GameEx because I appreciate your effort but before I bought Gex I set up all my emulators and games and things like that. With the exception of Mame I am not finding how to change the directory to find my emulators or Pdf Which are located on a different hardrive as I had them on an old computer that died but I saved the hd out of it. So that whole HD is all documents. How do I point the Pdf to locate my files in multiple directories?

I did the download emulators after having set my own up according to the defaults on the emulator Winuae for example do I have to move everything over to the C:\emulators directory and will it automatically work? or is there a way to point the directories to the individual editors or does one have to make an ini for ever single emulator. Sorry for asking questions but this seems more complicated than at first glance.

So one step at a time here ... Are you managing your GameEx configuration through the Setup Wizard? If not, you'll want to have a look at that. All the directories you're asking about here can be easily altered via the Setup Wizard (if I'm understanding your question correctly).

One exception to this is Gamebase (I noticed you had a GameBase question in a separate thread). I don't use GameBase at all, but I do know that you must configure your media directories and whatnot in GameBase before GameEx will recognize them. GameEx simply uses the GameBase configuration, and to my knowledge you cannot use GameEx as a means to configure GameBase.

It's definitely a little complicated. This is a good thing, as the complications are a result of the software being configurable to an amazing degree. It may take some time to get everything configured the way you want, but this is preferable (to me anyway) to software that is easier to use but you're stuck in whatever molds they provide.

As nullPointer mentioned, the setup wizard is your friend. Spend some time just reviewing and playing with all the options. The emulator and assets directories are configured on the Emulator Setup page (and a few on the next page, Advanced Emulator Setup). I plead ignorance on GameBase (the one time I thought I'd see what it was their webserver was not responding, and it still isn't as far as I can tell), so take whatever I say with a grain of salt, heh.

Thanks I was able to get some of the alternative arcades to work but I am unsure the best way to have gameex find my roms would be to move them into the C\Emulator directory out of where they are now. I will try it with one game and see what happens Thanks.
