thurmansevolution
Hello and good morning/afternoon!!I know its a little bit late, but I've finally updated GameEx to 13.03. I loved reading all the new "goodies" to it, and still a little excited about it maybe I'll add a little live local tv to the cab in some time .Anyway, since the update, I've noticed a couple of things that I can't quite figure how to fix. The first thing is that when GameEx is on the start page, the theme background is either missing, or is set to black. The lists and snaps are still there, but the background is black. When I go into whichever menu, e.g. emulator section, mame, favorites, etc, the theme background image displays. I've tried changing views, as well as changing themes, but all does this same thing. The other thing, (and I'm not sure if this has to do with the update, but narrowed it down to GameEx) is when 2 player coin ("6") and 2 player start ("2") are pressed at the same time in any emulator, GameEx would shut down the emulator (besides mame, which it would still play in the background...sorta) and focus would return back to GameEx. I've tried to mimic this on emulators outside of GameEx (I've even tried opening notepad to see if it was the Ipac), and all works well outside of GameEx. I normally wouldn't worry about it, but when the kids are over and start playing, they have a tendency to try to rush in a virtual quarter and press start...practically at the same time lol. Thanks for any help in advance!! And attached are the log files, as well as the .ini file.LCGameEx.inilog.txtThemeEditor.txt
thurmansevolution
---UPDATE---I went ahead and reverted back to 13.0 to stop the problem with the theme background on the start page.I still haven't figured out the issue with GameEx exiting the games when the buttons "2" and "6" are pressed. After further testing, it seems that any combination of the buttons "2", "4", and "6" will exit any game. (I wasn't able to recreate this with the Numpad numbers, only the numbers above the letters on the keyboard).Does anyone have this same issue?!? I'm down to my wits end on trying to fix this issue - I've looked through all the config files and logs, and did some trial and error with the config settings...I have no idea on what's going on.Any Help On This Matter Would Be Greatly Appriciated!!!!LC
Tempest
Either a global exit, or an escape using an advanced config.
thurmansevolution
I had checked through both of those, and even disabled them at one point to troubleshoot, but it still does it. Is there any way ya can check it using your rig to see if it's maybe a bug? If it isn't, then it has to be something in my setup - I'm about to pull out the rest of my hair with this thing lol
Adultery
I use global exit on my cab and it only exits with 1+2+3+4. Any other combo doesn't exit (ie 1+2+4, 2+4+3, 2+6+4, etc). Gotta be something wrong but I don't think its GameEx that's the problem. :'(
Tempest
How about posting your GameEx.ini from the version that does work.
thurmansevolution
The only reason why I thought it was GameEx was because I wasn't able to recreate it outside of GameEx. That kinda eliminated the emulators and ipac. It's probably some kinda small setting somewhere in the config that I keep missing lol. What's weird is that it can be any combinaton of those three keys to exit the emulator - and when playing a mame game when any combination of those keys are pressed, GameEx would come back into focus and the audio from the game still plays.Gotta be something small that I'm overlooking
thurmansevolution
It seems to do it in any version, but as soon as I get back home, I can re-attach the ini file.It might take awhile though, I'm stuck on the interstate right now - there was a trailer which overturned and traffic is backed up pretty bad now - I've been out here for about an hour and a half so far lol. The guy in the pic thought he could cross the median lol
Tempest
The only other thing is that if you have mapping to your gamepad that only works when GameEx is running. (profile)
Adultery
No you're right. It can be any combination of the four keys I assign, but it has to be all four keys. That's why I made a button that is mapped to these four keys. The fact that the emu isn't exiting either denotes a problem also. Add another button to your cab? Or even just add another button to the sequence?
thurmansevolution
Here are the configuration settings as of this morning, up to now.@Adultry - for some reason, on mine, it doesn't matter if all three are pushed, or any of the two at the same time; it can be: 2,4,6; 2,4; 2,6; etc...any combination of two of our all three will do the same thing. I have the Esc key set to close any emulator, but no kinda global exit sequense set that I'm aware of, and couldn't find anything in any of the config files. Thanks for all the work so far!! thurmansevolution
-UPDATE-Finally, after much trial and error with the config, I've finally figured out what was going on to make GameEx close the emulator down. For some reason, all "Map Back" was checked in the advanced emulator config...for some reason, this was causing the issue. I haven't looked inside the Advance Mame Config to see what was making GameEx close it just yet, but I'm sure its gonna be something related.I still have the issue with the theme background (not really snaps in background - those work fine, but the theme background itself) on the start page in the 13.03 version. Halfway there I guess lol

gurninator
I don't know if this is related to your problem, but I can't get my theme background to show in the MAME list. It always shows the currently selected game as a snap in the background. My MAME background which I lovingly crafted does not show (it used to work OK although I updated for the first time in a year recently so I don't which version broke it). I tried changing view, I tried unchecked the "show snap" checkbox in the theme options. I've tried everything but no joy.Other themes work fine - it's just my custom theme. It used to show my custom MAME background, but it doesn't anymore

gurninator
Thank you! That is exactly what it was.I set up my MAME configuration again from scratch and filled in the background artwork field (which was new to me, but I happened to have some MAME backgrounds so I set it). I have deleted it and now it works as I want it. This is really quite confusing because the "Change View" option can also set the background, so now there are two mechanisms to set the background.
