game not opening via games but no prob. through mame

hey guys. always lurking, first time poster.

got game ex running really well, one slight issue i got with certain rom. the game via gameex goes to load, screen goes black. i gotta hit esc. and restart gameex. now... via mame its not an issue. it opens up no problem. also via games ex while in another mame game. hitting tab, and selecting opening new game option, if i open the rom through there, it works great too. just the initial load from gamex wont work. any thoughts? thanks everyone.

Or you can troubleshoot it yourself using the runitgame.bat method as described in the same thread that KRC mentioned.

Did you recently update Mame without updating your rom set?

I'm thinking that one thing that may cause that to happen is that you built your mame Mame list with one version of Mame, but are now running a different version of Mame. If the rom name in question had changed from one version of Mame to another, GameEx would be trying to load a rom name that no longer works in the newer version of Mame. Updating your List would fix it, if indeed that is the problem.
