Hi zeenon!

Absolutely! The easiest (and most common) way to setup PC games is to create a folder with shortcuts to all your PC games, then in the setup wizard select a new emulator slot and choose the option "[PC] Microsoft Windows".

Then in the emulator setup portion point "Working Path" & "ROM Path" to where you created your shortcuts.

You may want to add *.lnk in the ROM Filter section to make sure only shortcuts are listed :)

Good luck and report back should you need any further assistance!

Hi zeenon!

I believe this is a two part question. As I read it, the first question you have is, “Can I configure PC games as an emulator in the setup wizard?” You certainly can, and several users have had great success with this. The following steps cover some of the highlights for configuring PC games as an emulator in GameEx

  1. Create a directory containing shortcuts to you PC games. These shortcuts will be used to launch your PC games, and should be tested prior to GameEx integration.
  2. Create a new emulator slot in the setup wizard.
  3. Set your emulator path to be the directory containing your shorcuts
  4. Set your ROM path to to be the directory containing your shortcuts
  5. Your emulator command can be “[ROMFILE]”
  6. Your ROM filter should be set to *.lnk
  7. All artwork can be configured to your liking, just make sure the names of the artwork matches the names of your shortcut files.

For the most part the above steps should set you on the right path. Please note that some games use a launcher (i.e. there’s some sort of intermediate screen that appears before the game itself is fully launched. Arkham Asylum is one that comes to mind). This can necessitate some additional steps, but for now let’s keep it simple and follow the above steps. We can cross that bridge if we need to.

Your second question as I see it is, “Can I exercise greater control over where PC games appear in my game lists?” The answer to this is also a resounding Yes. The above steps will get your PC games to appear under emulated games. If you find that to be unsatisfactory however, you can configure the GameEx menus ‘till your heart’s content using the Custom Menus utility. DazzleHP (our current Member of the Month) has written a fantastic introductory guide to using custom menus. That would be an excellent starting point if you wish to further configure you menus in GameEx.

Good luck zeenon, and Happy Gaming!

Edit: Dazzle beat me to it! :P Between his suggestions and mine you should be in a good spot with this. Let us know how it's going for you.

@Dazzle & null,

Very informative guys, :)

One of you should make a brief tutorial on this subject as I'm sure it would help a great deal of people.

^_^ i think null's post is a guide in itself - very descriptive, nicely formatted - certainly makes my post look shoddy!

I personnaly set up my games as different emulators and put the option "treat as 1 pc game" for each one. Then I grouped all the PC game with an "Emulator Group". Like that i have a better control over the launch of each game.
