Hello,

Sorry to ask but I am really stumped after purchasing GameEX, I am finding it hard to figure out how to set an exit button. Everything else is set-up nicely, including harder things than this I imagine!!

So for

the emulator Fusion (genesis)

I have 2 USB (via IPAC) joysticks attached in an arcade cabinet. How do I make button 8 on the 2nd joystick the exit button for this emulator only? If joystick2 is a problem , even joystick one button 8 will do?

I have cruised the forum and usually I am ok with problems but failed to understand so before I go scripting and looking to external programs, I was wondering what is the basic understood way of doing it with gameex?

Many thanks indeed.

Hi mantaray, and welcome to the GameEx forums!

The IPAC is the aspect of your question that I'm unfamiliar with (what I mean is that I know what it is and what it does, but I have no hands on experience). Having said that, I think there are a couple possible solutions to your problem.

  • I personally address this issue with Xpadder (although any key mapping software could probably do the same thing). I make an Xpadder profile for each emulator, and within the profile I map the exit key combination either to ESC, or to the exit key combination native to the emulator itself. Each Xpadder profile uses the same button combination to exit the associated emulator, but behind the scenes it's able to send different keys dependent upon the profile settings.
  • GameEx will allow you to set a Global Exit key (or combination of keys) via the setup wizard (it's ton the Input Settings screen). Several users have reported success with Global Exit, so that may be just the ticket.

[RESOLVED] exit key not working anymore custom config not saving
How do I Map a button to escape emulators?

The unknown factor for me is how either of the above suggestions will interact with your keyboard encoder (i.e. your IPAC). It may be that using the Global Exit combination via GameEx will be your best option.

Thanks mantaray! Please let us know how this is going for you.
