Anyway direct... or a clever work around.. to open save states as if they were game..

Like I have save states files for all boss fights in certain games for let's say for example (Kega Fusion)

Is there any way from to get gameex to open the save state files directly.. instead of

having to open them within Kega Fusion.. or atleast put a command line that makes

this happen.. or batch file.. or something..

I know this process is probally different for each emulator.. but just curious if anyone

else has figured this out..

There's no command-line for Fusion to accomplish this. Also doesn't seem like anything from the emulator settings file will help either. Only way I can see is to script something to accomplish this. Sounds like work. LOL. Something that can be done but something that you would probably be on your own doing. Especially to cover more than one emulator. Sorry.

Hi DoA, long time no see!

I utilize save states through button mapping software. Specifically I setup Xpadder to kick off the proper sequence of buttons for saving and loading save states for those emulators that support save state functionality. For some emulators it can be a bit tricky as there can be some mouse emulation thrown into the mix as well (for instance Nestopia utilizes a standard Windows open/save file dialog window for save states). When necessary I also utilize a batch file that copies the name of the ROM to the clipboard upon loading the emulator so that I can execute a paste operation through Xpadder (if the name of the save state isn't pre-populated in the save dialog). Xpadder handles all of this like a champ (as usual). I'm afraid this solution doesn't meet your criteria of 'pre-loading' a save state, but I feel it's a pretty viable alternative.

As fReq points out, there would need to be a command option to load the state via the given emulator command, and it's hit or miss as to whether any given emulator supports this. Even then you would have to name the state identically to the ROM or something so that you could pass the appropriate save state to the command line via GameEx (in order for it to know which state to load).

fReq is right; there's no super-easy way of accomplishing this, but I fully endorse the Xpadder method (or mapping software of your choice). It takes a bit of little trial and error, but ultimately it's not terribly complex to configure through Xpadder.
