View all 6000 MAMEgames or just 2000and miss 1000?

so i've got the entire mame 1.04 rom set (something like 6000 files). here's the deal: when I have GameEx list everything ("giveme clones") the list shows all 6000 but since most roms have different versions, the same game can have up to 10 different selections. When I choose "no clones unless better" I get about 2000 roms on the list. this is nice since each game is only listed once but some games don't show up period, like Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Primal Rage, Pac Man, Captain America and the Avengers. These are just the games I know it isn't showing. I checked the MAME site and it says that there are aprox 3000 unique games, so 1000 are missing from my list when I choose "no clones, unless better".

i'd like to get all 3000 unique games listed. does anyone have a solution to this problem. does anyone else even have this problem? please help

hi, i've the same . i think there are missing a lot of games, but i'm not sure if it's ok or not. but let's check it together. lets make the same options, and then check the exact number of games shown in gameex.

i also have 0.104.

gameex config looks like this:

only working gamex - yes

allow imperfect games - yes

verify roms - no

only existing roms - yes

use game filters - no

no adult games - gimme porn

no mahjong games - gimme mahjong

no clones - i dont want clones

no clones - no clones unless better

my number of games shown in gameex is: 2672

I too am experiencing the number of games being incorrectly reported. MAMEPLUS0.104 shows 6082 games with no filtering being performed.

MAMEWAH with no filtering being performed shows 5939 games.

Gameex using MAMEPLUS0.1.04 without filtering "gimme porn, gimme mahjong, gimme clones" tells me I have 3564 games.

I have blown away MAMEPLUS and put in fresh and audited. Gameex still incorrectly reports total amount of games.

Ok, so I removed Gameex version 5.45 and installed 5.73. Turned off every discriminating feature that might cause game loss. Now Gamex reports 3270 which is 294 games less????

I hate to say this but it sure looks like something funny going on with Gameex.

Here's the outcome. MAMEPLUS shows 6082 games with no filtering and NOW Gameex shows 6022. Still a difference which I cannot figure out for the life of me why but it's sure better than previous numbers.

In configuration goto Advanced MAME Settings:

I think GameEx is working properly, but could be wrong. Dont know why its not listing all 3000 are you using any other filters? However for example Pac Man is a clone and that's why that is not showing. Its a common misconception to some folks that everything was created in America Besides its been said before but who wants to play "super mahjong porn hack bootleg 2000"?

You can remove games by pressing the delete key in GameEx.

Theres a setting to always show certain roms also, under Advanced MAME settings. Not so easy though, you need to specify the rom name.

With the same settings, my list is showing 2674 (i dont know why i get 2 more roms than you). This is a good improvement to my 21XX but there still is no pacman and no ultimate mortal kombat.

I do agree with you, tom. i have no interest in those crazy titles like "super majong crack hack prototype" but i am curious about why pacman still isn't showing up and what normal games arent being entered into the game list. but even with this occurence, this is still the best front end out there.

So Tom, Is there a way to add a game like pacman which is a clone to the original mame game list? Maybe this could could be a new feature!!! Instead of just an option to delete a game from a list you could also have a choice to move it to another list or copy it to another list. I know I like the original mame game list because it simplifies the number of game versions on that list.

you can add a game to the "don't filter these roms" list in the cofig window. this is what i've been doing but i can't escape the idea that a great game i've forgoten is missing from my list.
