[RESOLVED] having problems adding games to database file

im having a hard time adding games to the [PC] ScummVM.db3 file

no mater what i do i get the wrong names in gameex

How is this map file incorrect, how is it displaying the names in the menu?

if i use just the map file i only get the short names

i have been trying to add games to my "[PC] ScummVM.db3" file with both SQLite Expert Personal 3 and

DatabaseBrowserPortable

but my list of games keeps giving me the wrong names in my list

it listed

Simon the Sorcerer 1 as Simon the Sorcerer 2

Simon the Sorcerer 2 as Simon the Sorcerer 1

amonge others

and i have checked to make sure my files are named corectly and thay are

but if i dont add anything to "[PC] ScummVM.db3" the few games listed in it do display correctly

Hi smd

There are a couple of things that stand out to me in this config. You've specified the use of a map file, and the use of database names.

MapFile=ScummVM.map

UseDbName=True

In this scenario the map file will "win" (i.e. it would only show the map file names and not the database names). So in order to show database names you'll want to remove the map file entry.

The other part I noticed was that the map file in your config is not a full file path. That's OK so long as it meets the following stipulation:

Map File

File location of a .map file, that allows you to create a games list for the emulator based on the contents of the file. The file should be a text file list with Rom File Name on the left with extension, and Game name on the right in quotes. MAPfiles are compatible with Game Launcher Map Files. If you specify a full file and path GameEx will load the map file from there, if you just specify a file name GameEx will load the map file from the config directory. MAP files must have the file extension .map.

So if you do want to use a the map file, but it is not displaying correctly it would be worth verifying that the map file in the correct directory (...\GameEx\CONFIG\), or maybe even better specify the full file path.

the reason the map file dosent have a path is because i put it into my gameex folder(i think)

tho thats not exactly the problem im having with the default database file every thing works ok i just have a problem when i try to add things to it

in other words if i just leeve it as is some games show there correct names but the rest show the short names and all games will load

but if i add more games to the database file thay get all messed up and all games will load but i never know if im selecting the correct game

Just to confirm, are you following some variation of the following when you add new entries in the database?

• Enter the display name in the Name field
  
• Enter the rom name in one (or all) of the following field(s): GoodName, NoIntro, TOSEC
  
• Enter additional data as needed (it's helpful but not crucial)

Ah yes, good catch! I find that I often need to do just a bit of tweaking before everything shows up correctly in my game lists using the default databases (or I'm just a bit OCD about my game lists ).

ok the problem is no more it was the fact that the databsase had multipuls of the same info
