I've just reinstalled Gameex on my HTPC, it's been a while since I've used it.

I'd like to use a combination of buttons on my gamepad (it's a 360 wired controller) say A, B, X, Y & Select together to exit whatever game I happen to be in, MAME or any emulator.

Is there a step by step guide on how to configure this? I've had a poke around the custominput.ini file and i've set the buttons in the [joystickexit] section but it doesn't work. The file says that the buttons start at 0 so I've tried subtracting 1 from each button but it still doesn't work. I was testing with ZSNES.

I swear that I used to have this working on my old HTPC, but I remember that this was always tricky to configure!

You could set up an advanced emulator config and set your exit keys there and enable it under advanced emulator setup, thats what I did when I had problems exiting some emulators.

Edit* Advanced config is located in the root of your GameEx folder and advanced emulator setup is located in the setup wizard after emulator setup.

Its not really too difficult to set up but if you need a little more in depth advice please ask :)

OK, so in Advanced Emulator Config, I ticked the box to enable exit with the joypad and set the buttons accordingly.

I hit File > Save, then exit the utility. The buttons still didn't work and when I went back in to the config to check the buttons my settings had vanished.

I couldn't see any documentation for the utility, am i supposed to save over the custominput.ini??

The global gamepad should still be good without needing to setup an advanced config. Can some pro people confirm if this is definitly always or sometimes an issue? I have no idea where I put my gamepad last!

Did you enable your key combo in the advanced emulator setup for your specified emulator?

@Tom,

The reason why I mentioned the Advanced Config was because I thought this would be the most efficient way for his issue as reading through the forums I have noticed a few people having trouble with the global exit option, me included when I first started using GameEx.

I figured it out, I didn't understand what the advanced emulator config was changing. I discovered that in the setup wizard on the advanced emulator configuration page it was using an .ini file called (mapping off) process closed.ini for all the emulators. I opened this file in the advanced emulator config, changed the buttons and then saved the file. I opened zsnes and was able to exit using the gamepad buttons.

Thanks!
